Who Is Yassine Jaber, Lebanon's New Minister Of Finance
Yassin Jaber is a Lebanese businessman and politician with vast experience in both the private and public sectors. He earned a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the American University of Beirut after completing his high school education at the International College in Beirut. Jaber began his career in the financial sector by founding a financial company in Beirut, which operated until the outbreak of the Lebanese Civil War. He then expanded his professional experience internationally, working in Saudi Arabia, Africa, the United Kingdom, and Los Angeles, specializing in construction, global trade, and real estate. He also worked in Lebanon's construction sector and continues to own several regional projects, including tourism and hospitality establishments in Beirut. In addition, Jaber served as a board member of Casino Du Liban and as a member of the Beirut Stock Exchange Committee. In the political sphere, Yassin Jaber served as Minister of Economy and Trade in the second government of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and as Minister of Public Works and Transport in Prime Minister Omar Karami's government. He was elected to the Lebanese Parliament three times, representing the Shiite seat for the Nabatieh and Southern regions. Jaber has been a member of several parliamentary committees, including the Finance and Budget Committee and the Foreign Affairs Committee. He has also held leadership roles in parliamentary friendship committees, such as the Lebanese-Japanese and Lebanese-British Friendship Committees. Additionally, he chaired the Economic, Social, and Educational Affairs Committee in the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly and led the follow-up committee on Arab Common Market issues in the Arab Parliamentary Assembly.
