N.Y. attorney general announces 31 drug trafficking convictions, one from Adams Center
Apr. 17—WATERTOWN — State Attorney General Letitia A. James announced the convictions of 31 drug traffickers throughout the state, including one from Adams Center, after James' office investigated what they call two "major drug trafficking networks in Central New York and the North Country." Terrah Frederick of Adams Center pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal contempt. Frederick was sentenced to four years in prison and two years of post-release supervision. The investigation used resources from more than a dozen local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. Locally, the Metro-Jefferson Drug Task Force was involved. The first indictment involved Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties. The attorney general's office said 23 people were charged with 150 counts for their roles selling narcotics to people in Onondaga, Oswego, St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Cortland counties. James called this the "Castro Group," which investigators said was led by Bayron Castro. Castro procured "significant quantities of fentanyl" from Bronx County, according to the AG's office. "This investigation successfully took down two drug trafficking rings that put communities throughout New York at risk by distributing deadly amounts of fentanyl," James said in the news release. "My office works every day to protect New Yorkers from opioids, and that includes bringing fentanyl traffickers to justice. I thank all of our partners in law enforcement for their support in this investigation, and I will continue to go after anyone who tries to flood our communities with dangerous drugs."
