Corrie's Sue Cleaver reveals date of Eileen's exit storyline
Her exit date has also been confirmed and fans don't have long to wait to see her final scenes. The 61-year-old said 'it's never too late to invent yourself' when talking to The Mirror about her Corrie exit. Cleaver has spent more than two decades in the role but will leave the iconic soap on June 6, reports The Mirror. A post shared by Coronation Street (@coronationstreet) Sue's character Eileen will have a big decision to make in her final scenes as she questions whether to go back to Thailand with her son, Jason Grimshaw, played by Ryan Thomas. Sue said the exit storyline is 'perfect' and what she hoped for. She told The Mirror: 'I said very much that I would like her to go off to pastures new, you know, to kind of mirror what I'm doing in a sense. And I just think it's time for a change. So it was perfect. 'I'm so happy with the ending, and I was so humbled by it and the way it had been written and what it is. I felt very grateful to have such a wonderful ending written. It seemed very, very apt.' Cleaver has known she would be leaving Corrie for a year and wanted co-star Ryan Thomas who plays her on-screen son to be in her final scenes. A post shared by Ryan Thomas (@ryanthomas84) She said: 'Ryan was there from the start, and he was inconveniently living in Thailand, and it wouldn't be too far of a jump to expect that if Eileen was going to make a leap, that she would involve her son. 'And so when I decided to leave, like over a year ago, I rang Ryan, and I said, 'Ryan, I'm going to tell them that I'm going, and if they ask me about exits, I'd really like to say that you'd come back and take me out, but I don't know whether they'd go for it or not'. 'And he just went, 'Oh my gosh, of course, I would', which was so lovely for me. And it was just so nice to have him back and filming those final scenes with him. It just felt like I'd come full circle really.' Sue talked about the connection between Eileen and herself both wanting new starts: 'It's never too late to reinvent yourself. You just make little tiny steps, just little tiny things every day to change your routine and step out and be fearless. 'And so that's the journey I'm on. And in a sense, yes, Eileen's mirroring that, stepping out into the unknown.' Sue said her last day filming was 'perfect' but that she didn't want to have a big fuss for her departure.

Casualty star cast as new Emmerdale 'villain' and it's bad news for show legends
Casualty and Doctors star Jaye Griffiths is about to cause a stir as she steps foot onto Emmerdale with bosses claiming we will soon 'see what this woman is truly capable of' Emmerdale is about to welcome a brand new farmer onto the Dales, played by esteemed actress Jaye Griffiths, who may be about to cause some trouble for Moira and Paddy. A wedding, a killer discovery and a sad cancer diagnosis might be on the horizon for the ITV soap, but the villagers are set to also receive a rude awakening from a new villain in the form of mysterious character Celia. Celia, who clearly means business, pays Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) a visit to enquire if she can rent two of her fields. Moira, however, is quick to shrug her off. Celia's reputation precedes her as Moira isn't keen to deal with this mysterious woman, despite the bad finances on her own farm. It doesn't take long before Celia is causing trouble as poor vet Paddy (Dominic Brunt) is brutally attacked and hospitalised by one of Celia's guard dogs. We soon get the measure of her true colours from her reaction to the attack. Producer Laura Shaw has opened up on the exciting new arrival of Jaye and explains that although 'not much is known about mysterious Celia's past', viewers will 'soon start to see what this woman is truly capable of'. She said: 'We are absolutely delighted to have Jaye Griffiths joining us to play the role of Celia. Having recently taken over a nearby farm, not much is known about mysterious Celia's past before arriving on the outskirts of the village.' Laura continued: 'While Celia has a tough edge with an air of respectability, the audience, and our villagers, will soon start to see what this woman is truly capable of.' Newcomer Jaye, who is known for her previous roles in The Bill, Casualty and Doctors said she is 'delighted' with her new role. The actor said: 'I was delighted to get this role - without giving the game away she is very different to anyone I have played before and I can't wait to really get into the heart of her storyline.' Celia is renting a neighbouring farm in Emmerdale from Kim Tate, but with the Barton's and Sugden's as farming families already well established within the community there is definitely conflict on its way. Emmerdale continues Friday at 7.30pm on ITV1 and STV or from 7.00am on ITVX and STV Player.
