Easter Sunday draws big crowds for mass
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — The Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Peoria brought in a large crowd for mass at 10:30 a.m. on Easter Sunday.
The cathedral continues to serve as a designated pilgrimage site during the 150th anniversary of the diocese of Peoria.
Bishop Louis Tylka said Easter mass always brings familiar faces and even some new ones to the church.
'My hope is, is that as we come together this Easter, we are renewed in our commitment to live as people of hope, people of faith and people of love. That's what Jesus offers to us through his death and resurrection,' said Bishop Tylka.
Easter is recognized as the most important and joyful celebration of the entire liturgical year for Catholics.
