Man arrested after armed standoff in Mercer County on Friday
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) – One man was arrested after an armed standoff in Mercer County on Friday morning. According to the Celina Police Department, officers came to the house in the 500 block of S. Walnut St. at approximately 9 a.m. in response to a domestic violence call. On arrival, officers found a 39-year-old man who allegedly assaulted two adult women. Those on scene said the man opened the door while brandishing a filet knife. A 15-year-old teenager was inside the home. Officials said they had gotten reports of the 39-year-old acting unlike himself and possibly wanting to die. He was out on bond for prior felony charges from Mercer County Common Pleas Court. The stand-off lasted approximately an hour and a half. Officers were able to remove the teenager through a bedroom window. Man falls off cliff after running from authorities in Clark County The 39-year-old came to the front door multiple times, but wouldn't surrender himself. Officers deployed a less-lethal shotgun (bean bag rounds) in an attempt to subdue him. He was able to head back and secure the door. As officers started to break down the front door, he tried to flee out the back. There, he was confronted by other officers and was taken into custody. He is being held in Mercer County Jail on $100,000 bond on multiple misdemeanor charges; including domestic violence, assault, inducing panic, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. His case is under review by the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office. 'Celina Police were assisted on scene by deputies from the Mercer Co. Sheriff's Office. Celina P.D. Tactical Response Team members were called out to make the entry. Coldwater Police handled other calls in the City of Celina while officers were tied up on the standoff. Man accused of jumping over fence while running from officers in custody
A 33-year-old man accused of running from local police officers on foot is in custody. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Celina Police to the 200 block of E. Anthony Street on April 8 on initial reports of someone yelling at a woman. When they arrived, they found that Zachary Lee Ellis, 33, had a warrant for his arrest for telecommunications harassment, according to a social media post. Ellis reportedly went over a fence and got stopped with a taser, Celina Police said. Medics transported him to a local hospital for treatment before taking him to jail. Online jail records indicate that Ellis is in the Mercer County Jail. Ellis is facing additional charges of resisting arrest and obstructing official business.
