Bihar: Team of over 700 scientists to reach out to farmers under 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan'

Patna: Days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for 'Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan' (Developed Agriculture Resolution Campaign), scientists and experts have embarked on a mission to impress upon the villagers about changing patterns in agriculture and also about the need to bring reforms in the sector. In Bihar's Samastipur, a team of 720 scientists have been formed by Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, which, along with 1756 agricultural officers, has visited 993 villages so far. The team of scientists reached out to 96,475 farmers, listened to their problems and also told them the 'solutions'. Speaking at a recent event, PM Modi had said, 'The monsoon is approaching, preparations for the Kharif season are underway, and during the next 12 to 15 days, over 2,000 teams comprising scientists, experts, officials, and progressive farmers will be visiting villages across the country. These teams will reach out to millions of farmers in more than 700 districts.' 'In today's rapidly changing times, there is a need to bring comprehensive reforms to Indian agriculture. Our farmers have filled food reserves by producing record yields. However, markets are evolving, and consumer preferences are changing. Therefore, this is a humble effort to bring about changes in the agricultural system by working together with farmers and state governments. The goal is to modernise Indian agriculture, and for that, this campaign aims to initiate direct discussions with farmers,' he added. The campaign, led by Dr PS Pandey, Vice Chancellor of Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, is set to run till June 12. The Vice Chancellor said that for a prosperous country, farmers have to be prosperous, and in view of this, Sankalp Abhiyan has been started by the Prime Minister. Under the campaign, teams of agricultural scientists are visiting different villages and directly communicating with farmers, listening to their problems and also suggesting solutions. He said that 174 teams have been formed in Bihar and Jharkhand, which will reach out and communicate with close to 1 lakh, while 130 teams are working in Bihar, which have to reach out to 6,45,000 farmers. He informed that 38 teams have been formed by Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, through 16 agricultural science centres in 13 districts, whose target is to communicate with 1,90,000 farmers.

Satellite perfectly assisted armed forces to shoot down Pak drones, missiles: Isro

The Indian air defence system stood tall and provided the perfect shield amid a barrage of drones and missiles fired from Pakistan during the recent military conflict and Indian satellites assisted the armed forces, providing them with the precise trajectory of air-borne weapons, the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) said on the nights of May 9 and 10, Akashteer, India's advanced air defence system, along with the Russian-imported S-400, emerged as an invisible shield, intercepting and neutralising Pakistani air attacks on Indian civilians and military chairman V Narayanan explained how Indian satellites rose to the occasion in the face of adversities and helped Indian armed forces mitigate the immediate threat. "All the satellites worked perfectly with perfect accuracy. When we began, our camera resolution was between 36 and 72 cm. But India, as a developing nation, now has a camera on the Moon called the On-Orbiter High Resolution Camera, which is the world's best resolution device. We also have other cameras which can show 26 cm resolution", Narayanan said while speaking to the media in May 11, while addressing the 5th Convocation ceremony of the Central Agricultural University (CAU) in Imphal, Narayanan said that at least 10 satellites were working round-the-clock for strategic purposes to ensure the safety and security of Indian comments came amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack in which 26 people were killed."Whatever satellites we send are always connected to the benefit of our people, which also includes safety and security. At least 50 satellites are serving in television broadcast, telecommunications, safety and security areas", Narayanan said on Friday, adding that following the Mangalyan Orbiter mission, Isro is also working on a landing mission which is expected to roll out in around 30 chief Narayanan reached Chennai on Thursday as final arrangements are underway for the PSLV C-61 rocket launch, which would be the space organisation's 101st Watch

10 satellites working to ensure safety and security: ISRO Chief V Narayanan

Imphal : Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman V Narayanan said that at least 10 satellites are continuously working round-the-clock for the strategic purpose to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of the country. Addressing the 5th convocation ceremony of the Central Agricultural University (CAU) in Imphal yesterday, ISRO chief highlighted the organisation's effort to ensure the country's safety amid the tensions with Pakistan. "At least 10 satellites are continuously working round-the-clock for the strategic purpose to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of the country," the ISRO Chairman said. "You all know about our neighbours. If we have to ensure the safety of our country, we have to serve through our satellites. We have to monitor our 7,000 km seashore areas. We have to monitor the entire Northern part continuously. Without satellite and drone technology, we can't achieve that," V Narayanan said. Following the chaos and all the skirmishes that had kept the areas along the northern and western International Borders (IB) up during the night for the past few days, the region has largely remained peaceful during the intervening night of May 11 and May 12, the Army stated. According to the Army, the region of Jammu and Kashmir and other areas along the IB were calm, and no incidents of the violation of the cessation of hostilities were reported. The army noted that this marked the first calm night in recent days following the cross-border firing, heavy artillery shelling and drone attacks by Pakistan in response to India's Operation Sindoor, launched in retaliation for the April 22 terror attacks, which dismantled major terror sites in Pakistan and in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). For the past few days, the border regions in Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, Punjab and Gujarat witnessed Pakistan's heavy shelling and attempted drone attacks, which were aimed at disrupting peace along the region. However, the attacks from Pakistan were largely neutralised by the Indian air defence system In retaliation, the Indian Armed Forces confirmed the destruction of 11 air bases inside Pakistan and inflicted significant damage on their military capabilities. At a joint press conference on Sunday, Lieutenant General Rajeev Ghai (Director General Military Operations), Vice Admiral A N Pramod (Director General Naval Operations), and Air Marshal A K Bharti (Director General Air Operations) jointly revealed the major outcomes of India's Operation Sindoor. Lieutenant General Rajiv Ghai apprised about his conversation with his counterpart, which resulted in cessation of cross-border firing and air intrusions by both the neighbouring countries, saying that the Pakistan army violated these understandings after a couple of hours after the cessation of hostilities. He said that it was the Pakistan DGMO who proposed that hostilities cease. "My communication with the Pak DGMO was conducted at 15:35 hrs yesterday and resulted in cessation of cross-border firing and air intrusions by either side with effect from 17:00 hrs, May 10, after he proposed that we cease hostilities. We also decided to further speak on May 12 at 12:00 hrs to discuss the modalities that would enable the longevity of this understanding," Ghai told reporters in a press conference on Sunday. He said that the violation of the agreement reached between the two DGMOs was responded to robustly by India."However, disappointingly, expectedly, it took only a couple of hours for the Pakistan Army to violate these arrangements by cross-border and across the Line of Control (LoC) firing, followed by drone intrusions last night and in the early hours of today. These violations were responded to robustly," Ghai added. The Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor on May 7, targeting nine terror sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoK). Operation Sindoor was a retaliatory response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam.

ISRO Chairman Discusses Satellites' Role in Enhancing India's Security and Technological Growth

At the 5th Convocation ceremony of the Central Agricultural University (CAU) in Imphal, V Narayanan, the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), discussed the importance of satellites for India's national security. He explained that India relies on at least 10 satellites that operate continuously to help protect the country and its citizens. He pointed out that satellite technology is essential for monitoring India's long coastline and northern borders. Without the use of satellites and drones, ensuring the country's safety would be a difficult task. Narayanan's remarks come amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, following a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22 that resulted in 26 casualties. In retaliation, India targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir with airstrikes. Pakistan responded with drone and missile attacks, which were intercepted by India. The two nations later agreed to halt military actions on May 7. Narayanan also highlighted India's significant achievements in space. He noted that India was the first country to discover water molecules on the Moon during the Chandrayaan-1 mission. India is now positioning itself as a "vibrant space power" and is planning to establish its own space station by 2040. The country has also launched a total of 433 satellites into orbit for 34 different countries. In addition, Narayanan mentioned that emergency response systems in India have improved over the years, resulting in fewer lives being lost during disasters, thanks to advanced technology. ISRO's contributions extend beyond national security and are being applied to various sectors like telemedicine, education, weather forecasting, and TV broadcasting. Furthermore, ISRO is working on developing a satellite to assist G20 countries in studying climate change, air pollution, and monitoring weather patterns.

10 satellites monitoring 24/7 to ensure security of India: ISRO chief amid tensions with Pakistan

ISRO Chairman Dr V Narayanan said that 10 satellites are continuously working for a strategic purpose to ensure the safety and security of the country's citizens. Speaking at the convocation ceremony of the Central Agricultural University in Manipur's Imphal on Sunday, he said India is becoming a "vibrant space power" and will have its first space station by 2040. "Today, 433 satellites of 34 countries are lifted from India and placed in orbit. I am also happy to inform you that today, 10 satellites are continuously working 24/7 for a strategic purpose to ensure the safety and security of the citizens of the country," the ISRO chief said during the programme. His comment came amid the military conflict between India and Pakistan. The country launched Operation Sindoor on May 7 to destroy terror infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack. Narayanan also said, "If we have to ensure the safety of our country, we have to serve through our satellites. We have to monitor our 7,000 km seashore. We have to monitor the entire northern part continuously. Without satellite and drone technology, we can't achieve that." He said the Indian Space Research Organisation is developing a satellite for G20 countries to study climate and air pollution and monitor weather. The progress that the country has made since Independence was "phenomenal and outstanding", he added.
