Healthcare workers chosen as homebuyers for Habitat for Humanity condos in Pittsfield
PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Two healthcare workers were selected as the new homeowners for the affordable housing units in Pittsfield.
The condos located at 266 and 268 Onota Street were made available from the Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity, and are designed with accessibility and energy efficiency in mind. Each has three bedrooms, two bathrooms and features modern open-concept designs, Energy Star appliances, and highly efficient heating and cooling systems.
They were priced at $140,000 each, and two families who qualified were selected through the Central Berkshire Habitat for Humanity application process. They are scheduled to purchase the condos in late May.

'The application process involved gathering together a lot of paperwork and securing a pre-approval for a mortgage from a local bank but Habitat worked with me side-by-side and helped us complete everything we needed pretty quickly,' said one of the homebuyers. 'And the Partnership Hours have allowed me to do some painting and trim work in the Onota condos over the past couple of months. I've had the opportunity to meet Habitat and ReStore staff and other volunteers and tell my story to supporters who shop at ReStore. The whole experience has expanded my community to include all of these wonderful people who make affordable housing possible for families like ours.'
