Ferry Fire nearly doubles in size, evacuations remain in Sherman County
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The Ferry Fire, burning along Highway 206 in Sherman County, nearly doubled in size overnight as evacuations remain in place. The fire started Thursday about 1.5 miles south of Cottonwood Canyon State Park and was initially estimated to be 5,000 acres. However, Central Oregon Fire Info shared Friday morning that the blaze was now 9,107 acres and 5% contained. Evacuations are in place for parts of Sherman County, for the area south of Starvation Lane between the east intersection of Starvation Lane and the John Day River. Thousands of homes threatened as destructive Rowena Fire continues burning There are also evacuations for Cottonwood Canyon State Park. Butte Creek wildfire reaches 40% containment in Central Oregon
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The Butte Creek Fire burning in Wheeler County is , according to Central Oregon Fire. The and has since grown to nearly 2,000 acres.
