Altoona man sentenced nearly 4 years for drug trafficking in Central Pennsylvania

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) — An Altoona man was sentenced in federal court for drug trafficking around Blair, Cambria, Centre and Clearfield counties, Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced. Andrew Stowell, 67, was sentenced to 46 months in prison, followed by two years of supervised release, by United States District Judge Stephanie L. Haines. Stowell was part of an Altoona-based drug trafficking organization, according to information presented to the court. On Dec. 12, 2022, Stowell sold a quarter-pound of methamphetamine to an undercover officer. Blair County man sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking in Central Pennsylvania

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WTAJ) — A federal judge sentenced a drug trafficker to federal prison after pleading guilty to distributing meth around Central Pennsylvania. Douglass Hillegass, 62, of Duncansville, was sentenced in federal court to 33 months in prison followed by two years of supervised release after pleading guilty to one count of distributing meth in October 2024, Acting United States Attorney Troy Rivetti announced. Ten Central Pennsylvanians indicted on federal charges for drugs, money laundering Hillegass' conviction came when he, along with nine others, were indicted by a grand jury in 2023 after a six-month-long wiretap investigation into drug trafficking around Blair Cambria, Centre and Clearfield counties. According to information presented to the court, Hillegass obtained roughly six ounces of methamphetamine from a large-scale dealer to sell and distribute to others in the United States Attorney Rivetti commended the Drug Enforcement Administration, United States Postal Service – Office of Inspector General, United States Postal Inspection Service, Homeland Security Investigations, Internal Revenue Service, Pittsburgh Bureau of Police, and Pennsylvania State Police for the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Hillegass. Italian restaurant expanding; opening 2nd West Shore eatery

CAMP HILL, Pa. (WHTM) — A family-owned Italian pizzeria and restaurant will soon expand into a second Midstate location. From Sicily to the Midstate, Amici Pizza & Restaurant has been serving Central Pennsylvanians for the past 16 years. The long-time establishment is owned and operated by Vincenzo 'Vinny' Epifanotto, who first opened his family-run Italian eatery on 125 Gateway Drive in Mechanicsburg back in November of 2008. The family opened the restaurant shortly after moving from Italy to the Midstate in 1998. Over the years, Amici Pizza & Restaurant has become known for offering a variety of pizzas, cold & hot subs, salads, strombolis, wings, and a lot more. Specifically, Vinny says some of the most popular food items at Amici Pizza & Restaurant include its pizzas with their family's homemade sauces, their cheesesteak specials, Italian subs, chicken parmesan subs, and their recently added 'Pizzaboli', which dropped back in March 2020. Subscribe Now Recently, Amici Pizza & Restaurant shared on Facebook that they would be expanding the family business by opening a second location on the West Shore at the Capitol City Plaza on 3401 Hartzdale Drive. The new restaurant is going to be approximately 2,250 square feet in size and will be capable of seating about 30 guests at a time. Once open, Amici Pizza & Restaurant plans on eventually having the same hours of operation as their flagship location, which are: Tuesdays – Thursdays // 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays // 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Saturdays // 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sundays // 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. The new location will primarily be operated by Vinny and his sister, Annalisa Epifanotto.
