Cortlandville man accused of physically abusing elderly victim
CITY OF CORTLAND, N.Y. (WVT/WBGH) – A Cortlandville man was arrested last week after allegedly subjecting an elderly victim to abuse. On March 5, Officers from the Cortland County Sheriff's Office responded to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center, located at 134 Homer Avenue in the City of Cortland, for an elder abuse allegation. During an investigation, it was determined that 48-year-old Robert Morris had allegedly physically abused an elderly victim who was known to him. Morris was arrested and charged with Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent/Physically Disabled Person, a Felony, and Harassment, a violation. He was processed at the Sheriff's Office and arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process. Morris was released. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Cortlandville Court on March 12. 84-year-old Willet man arrested on rape, forcible touching, imprisonment charges
TOWN OF WILLET, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The Cortland County Sheriff's Office announced the arrest of an elderly man Thursday who's accused of sexual abuse from 2022 to 2024. 84-year-old Donald Griest, of the Town of Willet in Cortland County, is accused of subjecting a victim known to him to inappropriate sexual contact between January 2022 and November 2024. CCSO initially received the complaint in 2024 for sexual abuse. Griest was charged with two counts of rape in the first degree, sexual abuse in the first degree, forcible touching, and unlawful imprisonment in the second degree. Griest was arraigned through the Centralized Arraignment Process, where he was released on his own recognizance. his next Court appearance is scheduled for March 6 at 6:00 PM in the Town of Willet Court Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc.
