Axar Patel's DC might release these star players after IPL 2025
In this collection of pictures we shall know the star players who might be released by Axar Patel's Delhi Capitals after IPL 2025. Jake Fraser-McGurk was released by Delhi Capitals prior to the IPL 2025 auction. But the franchise recalled him for Rs 9 crore through the Right-To-Match option during the mega auction. DC had great hopes from Fraser-McGurk but he could deliver nothing, managing just 55 runs in six games at a strike rate of 105.77 before being finally dropped from the playing XI. Following his poor performance, Delhi Capitals may release Fraser-McGurk post-IPL 2025 season. Australian youth Jake Fraser-McGurk, noted for his hard-hitting batting, has scored 385 runs in 15 games with an average of 25.67 and a strike rate of 199.48 in his IPL career till date. Indian pacer Mukesh Kumar was retained by Delhi Capitals (DC) under the Right to Match (RTM) option for Rs. 8 crore during the IPL 2025 Mega Auction. But Mukesh failed to deliver according to the franchise's expectations. Mukesh has been one of the costliest bowlers in IPL 2025 season as he picked 12 wickets from 12 games but gave runs at an economy of 10.32. He was extremely poor in death overs. Delhi Capitals may think of releasing Mukesh after the season of IPL 2025 and searching for someone with faster bowling options. Mukesh Kumar, who began his IPL journey with the Delhi Capitals in 2023, has taken 36 wickets across 32 appearances to date. Sri Lankan bowler Dushmantha Chameera was retained by Delhi Capitals (DC) for Rs 75.0 lakh in the IPL 2025 mega auction. Chameera has featured in four matches in IPL 2025, picking up three wickets with a steep economy of 10.77. Chameera has been inconsistent in his performances, particularly in powerplay and death overs. Since his plain mode and lack of faith from the management, Delhi Capitals can release Chameera after IPL 2025 season to find more potent overseas bowling talent. Dushmantha Chameera has claimed 13 wickets in 19 IPL appearances, maintaining an economy rate of 9.72 throughout his career in the tournament so far. Veteran South African cricketer Faf du Plessis was acquired by the Delhi Capitals for Rs 2 crore during the IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. However, his contributions during the season fell short of expectations. At 40 years old, Du Plessis faced fitness challenges and featured in 9 games, managing to score 202 runs at an average of 22.44 and a strike rate of 123.92. Considering his age and physical condition, Delhi may contemplate releasing him to open up an overseas spot for a more dynamic and explosive option. Faf du Plessis has accumulated 4,773 runs across 154 IPL games, maintaining an average of 35.09 and a strike rate of 135.78 over the course of his career in the tournament.
