Andy Murray gives blunt verdict on glittering event after not being able to sit with family
The Scottish Tennis ace opened up on being forced to attend the traditional champion's dinner after Wimbledon win. Tennis superstar Andy Murray has branded one of the world's most prestigious sports ceremonies 's***e'. The 38-year-old former world No1 has revealed he once even stopped at McDonald's wearing his tuxedo on the way to the glitzy Wimbledon Champion's Dinner. The blunt-speaking Scot's mum Judy explained that her son was exhausted after the gruelling match followed by hours of press interviews. Andy lifted the men's golden trophy on Wimbledon's Centre Court first time in 2013, beating all-time great Novak Djokovic in straight sets. Judy said that afterwards 'the players' restaurant was closed so there wasn't any food available, not just for Andy but for anyone. He was starving'. Speaking during Centre Stage, a series of stage shows in Glasgow, Edinburgh and London in which he shares candid anecdotes about his career, Andy said he wanted to celebrate his first Wimbledon victory with friends and family. Instead he was forced to attend the traditional champion's dinner at London's InterContinental Park Lane hotel, 90 minutes from the All England Club. Arriving at 11.30pm, he described how he wasn't able to even sit with his mum, dad or now wife Kim Sears, and joked, 'Yeah, it was s***e'. He had previously said he was unable to remember any of the 2013 match afterwards and felt only a sense of 'relief' at having won, rather than a sense of achievement. The sporting legend told the 3000 fans in the audience that he celebrated his 2016 Wimbledon victory, which he won by beating Canadian Milos Raonic in straight sets after two hours and 47 minutes, very differently. Of that win, his last at a Grand Slam, he told the crowd that he stopped at a McDonald's on the way to the Champions' Dinner while wearing his tuxedo. Mum Judy laughed as she recalled how the drive-through staff couldn't believe their eyes when Andy picked up his order in his evening attire, and said: 'They were asking, 'Is that Andy Murray? No, it can't be.'' Andy said he ended the evening in a nightclub and 'had an accident' in the taxi on the way home. The dad of four ends his tour next Sunday at the New Wimbledon Theatre on the eve of the tournament.

Fans Concerned With Tiger Woods' Appearance Before the Masters
Nearly every golf fan on the planet knows Tiger Woods isn't teeing it up at the Masters this weekend after undergoing surgery to repair a torn Achilles in March. "As I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured. This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon," he said in a statement at the time. Advertisement What fans don't seem to know, though, is the physical toll taken on Woods' body following the surgery. Earlier this week the 15-time major champion wasn't spotted at the Champion's Dinner ahead of the Masters, but he had a good reason for skipping the event. "We were putting our jackets away and the guys said that Tiger still can't put weight on his foot," 1971 Masters winner Charles Coody told Doug Stutsman of Golfweek. "They said his weight tolerance just isn't there to climb up those stairs." While he isn't stepping foot on Augusta National, Woods did make a virtual appearance when announcing his new partnership with the golf club. Several social media accounts expressed concern for the five-time major champion after watching the video. "Uhhhhhhhh I know it's an off limits topic in the golf world but… He does not look great here. Looks like the Genesis interview from 2021," one account said. Advertisement More than a few suggested it was allergy related. "any real fan of tiger knows about his allergies the south this time of the year is more pollen than oxygen," one person noted. "Well he is damn near 50 and he had like 1000 operations. All in all he looks ok," suggested another. "Father Time takes no prisoners," astutely offered another. Woods will be watching from home, like most fans, when the Masters tees off at 7:40 a.m. ET on Thursday, April 10. Related: Paulina Gretzky Turns Heads With Vacation Photos Before the Masters

Scottie Scheffler explains his Masters Champions Dinner menu: 'It's my favorite foods'
Scottie Scheffler explains his Masters Champions Dinner menu: 'It's my favorite foods' Scottie Scheffler released his menu on Wednesday for the Champions Dinner, held on the Tuesday evening of Masters week, and it looks a lot like the one he served two years ago. During his official champion's press conference with members of the media leading up to the 2025 Masters, Scheffler explained how he put it together. 'It's my favorite foods, haven't quite changed too much but there's a little bit, I would say, more kind of nostalgic stuff,' he said. 'My dad's meatballs made the menu. I think there's a meatball and ravioli type of dish that was always my favorite thing growing up. My dad, his best meal was always meatballs. So I think that's going to be one of the appetizers. 'Then the soup, my coach (Randy Smith) makes the best chili, Randy does. So I think they are trying to use his recipe for the chili inspiration. 'So that's really fun, those two things, and then I think we're doing ribeye again, and some red fish and tequila and bourbon this time. It should be a fun night, fun meal, and very excited about being able to host a Champion's Dinner again and very excited to see how it's prepared and what the chefs at Augusta pull off this year. I'm really looking forward to it.' Scheffler previously won the Masters in 2022, and for a second straight time he is serving cheeseburger sliders, noting a cheeseburger is his favorite food but he doesn't eat them as frequently as he did when he was younger. 'I've got to watch a little bit more what I eat now,' he explained. Those burgers will be served 'Scottie Style.' What is 'Scottie style, you ask? 'I always put the fries on my burger, and that's what 'Scottie style' is. It's fries on the patty. It's usually thin patties. So my favorite burger place here in town (Burger House in Dallas), it's thin patties with cheese in between each patty. And I'll find some of the melted cheese, throw the fries in there, ketchup. It's pretty great.' He also clarified that the Papa Schef is his father, Scott's nickname, for grandkids and his mom goes by Lollie. 'His meatballs were the best growing up,' Scheffler said. 'Any time he made them, we were all jacked up about it. Thought it would be fun to put them on the menu this year, and the raviolis were a nice touch as well.' Let's hope he allows the club's staff to prepare the raviolis after his Christmas Day gaffe, which sidelined him for a stretch of the early season.
