NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A Nashville teenager has been identified as the person killed in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 40 West overnight. The crash occurred around 10:30 p.m. Saturday near Spence Lane, and shut down the interstate for several hours during an investigation. 📧 Have breaking news come to you: → According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, driver 17-year-old Chance Lee Kimbro and a passenger were in a Ford Fusion heading west on I-40 when the car rear-ended a semi-truck. The Ford reportedly rotated several times, ejecting Kimbro from the vehicle. He then fell onto the roadway and was struck by another vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Officials said the passenger — who has not yet been identified — attempted to leave with another driver who stopped to assist at the crash site. He fled the scene before officers arrived. 2 injured in shooting at downtown Nashville dog park Authorities reported that before the collision, witnesses saw the Ford driving at high speeds and switching lanes. No evidence of drugs or alcohol was found at the scene. Metro Police said the vehicle was reported stolen just hours earlier at 6:15 p.m. from a residence in Whites Creek. Police: Nashville teen dead after crash with stolen car

A three-vehicle crash on May 3 left one teenager dead, Metro Nashville Police Department said. Police said 17-year-old Chance Lee Kimbro, of Nashville, was driving a 2015 Ford Fusion on Interstate 40 West near Spence Lane at 10:30 p.m. when he struck the back of a semi-trailer. The Fusion rolled several times and Kimbro was ejected from the vehicle and onto the interstate. Kimbro was then hit by a third vehicle, police said. He died at the scene. Police said a yet unidentified passenger was in the Fusion with Kimbro, but fled the scene before emergency responders arrived. The passenger had attempted to get a ride from a driver who stopped at the scene to assist, police said. The passenger's whereabouts are unknown. The Fusion had been reported stolen prior to the crash at 6:15 p.m., MNPD said. The car came from an apartment complex at 6001 Old Hickory Blvd. According to witnesses interviewed by police, the Fusion was traveling at a high rate of speed and changing multiple lanes prior to the crash.
