Man dies from shooting in Burnsville
A man was fatally shot Sunday in Burnsville, according to Burnsville Police. Officers reported at 1:28 a.m. in an X post, that the shooting occurred at a residence in the Chancellor Manor complex off of Irving Ave South. The victim was identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office as 22-year-old Ahmed Abdinaasir Noor. Noor was taken to the hospital with apparent gunshot wounds, according to the X post. The medical examiner's report states the case is a homicide and that a gunshot wound to the chest resulted in the fatality. The investigation is ongoing. Officials ask that people avoid the area until additional information is provided. The Eagan Police Department is leading the investigation because Burnsville officers and detectives are in Washington, D.C., for memorial events, according to a Burnsville police spokesman. Surrounding police departments are covering for Burnsville officers while they are gone. The Brief A shooting at a Burnsville apartment building left a man dead overnight. Police reported the shooting on social media just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Authorities have not announced any arrests. BURNSVILLE, Minn. (FOX 9) - Authorities are investigating a shooting that happened at a Burnsville apartment building overnight that left a man dead. What we know A man was taken to the hospital after a shooting in the Chancellor Manor apartment complex overnight. Police asked the public to avoid the area and said they would provide more information when it became available. What we don't know A police spokesperson was unable to confirm the victim's condition after the shooting. However, a medical examiner's report released Sunday afternoon identified the victim as 22-year-old Abdinaasir Noor Ahmed. The report states Ahmed died from a gunshot wound to the chest. Dig deeper A Burnsville city official said many of the city's officers are at the National Police Memorial event in Washington, D.C. and that neighboring departments are assisting in the investigation. The medical examiner's report states the Eagan Police Department as the investigating agency.
