Police to issue new helpline no. today to address traffic problems

1 2 3 Ranchi: Police is all set to issue a new helpline number for people on Saturday to register traffic related complaints and also make suggestions on addressing persisting problems, said South Chhotanagpur inspector general (IG) Manoj Kaushik on Friday. He also said that eight to nine lakh challans related to traffic violations have not been paid by people in Ranchi adding that it has been decided to list the vehicle registration numbers of more than five time violators on Jharkhand Police website so that people can check and pay the fine. While addressing media persons after a meeting with senior police officials including DIG cum Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha, the IG said that people can also make calls or post messages and videos on the helpline number to show the reasons for traffic jams in different areas. He added that police officers would address the complaints. Kaushik said police have already identified congestion points where the officers-in-charge of local police stations and traffic personnel would jointly tackle the problem adding an order would be issued soon in this regard. He said that police stations and traffic personnel performing well would be rewarded while those who neglect work would face action. The IG added that instruction has also been issued to activate a team during commencement and the end of classes in schools to ensure that buses carrying children are not stuck up in traffic jams for long. He also appealed that people should come up to volunteer in traffic management along with the police adding interested persons can join the social service through the helpline number. The IG said that coordination would be established with Google Map India so that congestion points in the city could be indicated on the map from early in the morning. Ranchi: The police arrested 121 people in connection with 28 cases, registered across various police stations, in a massive raid on Thursday night. All the arrested were absconders and warrantees in rural parts of the district. Among them, 22 produced their bail documents before the police and were released, police said on Friday. DIG cum Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha on Friday said, "The action was undertaken simultaneously under 25 police stations by 60 teams comprising 216 police personnel. The raids were conducted at 181 places." Those nabbed by police are involved in various types of crimes including extremism, dowry deaths, rape, rape of minor, murder, attempt to murder, dacoity, kidnapping, extortion, cheating, accident and Illegal mining. Among them were extremists Ramu Lohra and Rahul. The SSP stated all accused persons were sent to jail under judicial custody. "The step will have a significant impact on improving law and order in the district. Many of the arrested persons were absconding for a long time. 1 2 Ranchi: Police arrested a sub-zonal commander and a member of banned extremist group Tritya Sammelan Prastuti Samiti (TSPC) during an operation in Gambharia forest in Ranchi district. DIG cum Ranchi SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha on Friday said that the arrested persons are sub-zonal commander Diwakar Ganjhu and member Akshay Ganjhu. "Two country-made pistols, six cartridges, TSPC pamphlets, five mobile phones, four JIO routers, three power banks and four mobile chargers have been seized from them," he said. He added, "Police received information that the gang led by Diwakar was present in Gamharia forest with the intent to commit violence. The group was also checking mobiles of passers-by and beating them. A team led by Khalari deputy SP Ram Narayan Choudhary surrounded the forest and held two members of the group while others managed to flee taking advantage of forest." He said that Diwakar was a member of TSPC for past 15 years and had become area commander in 2018. He used to demand extortion from contractors involved in implementing development works and owners of stone crushers and brick kilns in Ranchi, Ramgarh and Hazaribag districts.
