Chandigarh: The MC received 25 queries from bidders in the recently held pre-bid meeting to earn revenue through the city's more than 30 roundabouts. They came up with a plethora of suggestions, ideas and views. This prompted the civic body to extend the floating of tender until June 3. MC's horticulture department will study the suggestions, and if it finds them feasible, will add the same to the tender for better competition for this maiden project of the civic body. Bids were to be invited on May 23. It has been pushed back by 10 days. The city has about 30 to 35 roundabouts, all of which fall under the jurisdiction of the civic body. Moreover, the selected bidder shall pay a licence fee per month per roundabout as offered in the bid (highest-1) and as per the RFP to the MC. MC to earn revenue from roundabouts, floats tender

1 2 3 Chandigarh: Hoping to earn revenue from city's roundabouts, the Chandigarh municipal corporation has floated a maiden tender, inviting interested bidders for this venture. To make this project feasible and assess the framed terms and conditions, the horticulture wing of the MC's engineering department held a pre-bid meeting on Monday with approximately a dozen interested parties to gather suggestions, views, and address their queries related to the subject. There are approximately 30 to 35 roundabouts in the city, falling under the jurisdiction of the civic body. The floated tender is set to open on May 23. However, if the authority feels that some suggestions or views given by the interested bidders in the pre-bid meeting on Monday can be considered, the decided date to open the tender is likely to be extended for a few days. As per the essence of this venture, the selected agency through the tender process will maintain and beautify the MC's roundabouts, along with the display of signboards and brand names. Moreover, the selected bidder will have to pay a licence fee per month per roundabout as offered in the bid (highest-1) and as per the RFP to the MC. The 'licence fees' will be increased on a yearly basis at 10% per annum, and the advertisement fee will be according to the size of the advertisement as per the Chandigarh Advertisement Control Order. Since the matter was already discussed in the monthly general house meeting in the past and the house members approved the Request for Proposal (RFP) and permission to float the RFP to invite bids from prospective agencies to outsource the work of maintenance and beautification of roundabouts along with the display of advertisements under the jurisdiction of the MC, the authority is hopeful that it will be able to earn a significant amount of money, sources in the MC said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Click Here - This Might Save You From Losing Money Expertinspector Click Here Undo As per the plan, the authority has decided to give the roundabouts to the successful bidders initially for a period of two years, which is extendable for another year as per the laid-down terms and conditions. As per the MC's assessment, the authority is expecting to earn around Rs 3 to 4 crore in annual income through the initiative of the revenue model from the roundabouts. MSID:: 121273541 413 |
