Actress Alankrita Sahai Joins Chandigarh Civil Defence Amid India-Pak Row

Last Updated: Bollywood actress Alankrita Sahai joins Chandigarh Civil Defence as a volunteer amid rising India-Pakistan tensions. Bollywood actress Alankrita Sahai has done something brave outside of acting by joining Chandigarh Civil Defence as a volunteer. The tensions have been rising between India and Pakistan post the Pahalgam attack by terrorists in Kashmir and India's retaliation through Operation Sindoor. Amid this, Alankrita is the first person from the Indian film industry to take part in this kind of service. Calling it a meaningful way to support her country in uncertain times, Alankrita shared, 'Well, times are tough and it's important to be ready for anything and everything that comes our way as a challenge and hurdle. Yes, the ceasefire has happened, and thankfully, we are in a position where we are hoping for peace and stability. But given the unpredictability of the situation, we cannot afford to be off guard. This is a special civil defence enrollment camp for civilians to help the people in need since Chandigarh has been on high alert." She also highlighted the value of community participation during crises, adding, 'The civilians can help in every way possible with this and henceforth, I have enrolled myself to help and serve my nation in any way, shape and form that I can serve my country and its people. I took part in the volunteering program with the NDRF where we trained for different situations of emergency where civilians can need help. I feel being there for the country isn't just the duty of the jawans but also us as civilians. I am glad that I am doing my duty as a civilian to good effect, and I will continue to do whatever that's needed for my country. Jai Hind." While she focuses on her volunteer duties, Alankrita also has some exciting developments professionally. Official announcements regarding her upcoming projects are expected to be made soon. Alankrita Sahai, who was crowned Miss India in 2014-2015, made history as the first Indian to win seven titles at the Miss Earth pageant. She began her career in music, featuring in an album with three songs produced by Himesh Reshammiya. The album was launched by big names like Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and T-Series. One of her well-known tracks from that time was the 2001 hit Kehta Hai Pal Pal Tumse. Alankrita later moved into films, making her mark with Love Per Square Foot, produced by Ronnie Screwvala. She also acted in Namaste England alongside Arjun Kapoor, directed by Vipul Shah. More recently, she worked with Jio on a project called Dangerous Affairs. First Published:
