From The Hindu, June 6, 1925: The situation in China
London, June 5: Of the two opposing War-Lords in China, namely Feng-Yun-Siang and Chang-Tso Lin, it is reported that Japan morally supports the latter, while Russia is morally, and perhaps physically too, behind Feng.
A serious view of the possibilities of such a situation is taken by the Washington correspondent of the Associated Press who declares that he possesses information pointing to direct Soviet participation in the impending struggle for control of the whole of China.
The correspondent asserts that considerable quantities of munitions have passed the frontier from Russia. He says the plan of operations contemplate extensive operations in the north, such as will completely dwarf the usual sporadic southern outbreaks.
The correspondent states that the American Government views the situation with absorbing interest, not unmixed with anxiety. Hitherto American officials have withheld comment.
