Kansas allocates $14M for aviation projects & improvements
KANSAS — A number of airports in southeast Kansas will each benefit from tens of thousands of dollars through the KAIP.
It stands for Kansas Airport Improvement Program. Governor Laura Kelly on Thursday announced more than $14 million total will go toward 47 aviation projects.

Independence will use its money for apron rehab. Fort Scott will replace taxiway edge lighting. Tri-City in Parsons will get a new fuel system.
Chanute will use its money for the design and reconstruction of its apron. A new taxilane project is on the calendar in Iola. And Atkinson Municipal in Pittsburg will update its airport layout plan.
All projects have been approved for fiscal year 2026.
