‘People at my local parkrun saved my life – now I'm trying to repay them'
As we mark National Volunteer Week, two of those who regularly offer their time reveal what first made them get involved, and the surprising rewards they have found
Although she's just 20 years old, Charlie Harney has been a volunteer for a number of years, enjoying every moment because not only is it 'great to be able to help others', but it also gives her a 'real sense of purpose'.
'I saw an advert (in 2022) on Instagram that SpunOut were looking for volunteers and although I had never heard of them before, I looked through their website and social media and I really loved what I saw,' she says.
