Regina Pat Canadians advance to Telus Cup final
The Regina Pat Canadians have made it to the gold medal game at the 2025 Telus Cup.
With a 5-0 win over the Elgin Middlesex Canucks in Saturday's semifinal of the national male under-18 hockey championship in Chilliwack, B.C., the Pat Canadians have booked their ticket to their first national championship since 1999.
In the semifinal, Chase Surkan opened the scoring for Regina before Ethan Young notched a pair of goals to give the Pat C's a 3-0 lead.
In the second period, Cooper Bratton scored to make it 4-0 before Cash Lanigan found the back of the net in the third period. Along with two goals, Young had an assist for a three-point game to lead the Pat Canadians while Taylor Tabashniuk made 28 saves for the shutout.
In the final on Sunday at 4 p.m. (TSN+), Regina will face Quebec's Chevaliers de Levis, who beat the Moncton Flyers 3-0 in the other semifinal.
Sunday's final will also be a rematch of the final round robin game — Regina's only loss of the tournament — which saw the undefeated Chevaliers beat the Pat C's 6-2.
The Pat Canadians, who are appearing in their first Telus Cup since 2017 when they finished fourth, have won the national tournament four times (1983, 1988, 1994 and 1999).
