It all started with Ranbir Kapoor telling us that marriage is like dal chawal for pachaas saal till you die. A simple line from Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani that instantly became a pop culture reference.
And now, years later, we have Aditya Roy Kapur serving up another unforgettable metaphor in Metro In Dino — 'Aaj kal ka pyaar confusing hai… like a Cheese Chinese Schezwan Masala Dosa. Chennai se China sab cover kar liya, lekin raha kahin ka nahi.' A line that's as funny as it is real.
STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD
From Ranbir's classic realism to Aditya's chaotic poeticism, the audience has clearly evolved — and the dialogues are mirroring us right back. Social media is flooded with reels, memes, and fan edits — not just because these lines are iconic, but because they hit home. They capture how love has shifted from comfort to confusion, from definitions to delicious disorder.
Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi, and Konkona Sen Sharma are coming together for Anurag Basu's Metro In Dinon. This is an extension of what we saw in Basu's own 2007 Life In A Metro. The trailer of the film is out and looks a promising take on love and loss.
Eight people at the crossroads of life. One story is about an unplanned pregnancy, the next one is about two aging people for whom age is just a number, a third one is about a woman's complicated love life and her complex relationship with her mother. More interesting here is Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara Ali Khan's track, where nobody has any idea where their tale is heading.
Pritam has done some of his best work for Basu and here too, music is the thread that holds the fragility of these vulnerable stories together. And yes, Irrfan Khan and KK are no more with us. And the director did recall their absence recently.
