What's Cooking: Turkey Steaks with Mashed Potatoes and Green Beans
1lb ground turkey
1 large egg, beaten
1 Tbsp. chopped fresh sage
1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 garlic clove, finely chopped
1/3 cup Oatmeal
1t Montreal seasoning
¼ cup light olive or vegetable oil
2 cups low-sodium chicken stock
3 Tbsp. flour
Place the turkey, egg, sage, onion, garlic, oatmeal and Montreal seasoning in a bowl and gently mix to combine. Form the mixture into four, 1 inch thick, patties.
Heat the oil in a non-stick skillet set over medium heat. Cook burgers 4-5 minutes per side, or until entirely cooked through. Transfer to a plate and cover with foil to keep warm while you make gravy. Place the stock and flour in a bowl and whisk to combine.
Drain the excess fat from the skillet, and then pour in the stock/flour mixture. Bring to a simmer and cook until the gravy thickens; season with salt and pepper.
Place the ground turkey steaks back in the gravy and serve with your favorite sides. Enjoy!
