Chekkera cricket namme 2025 in Karnataka's Kodagu draws record turnout and online viewers
HUDIKERI( (Coorg ): The 23rd edition of the Kodava Inter-Family Cricket Tournament, Chekkera Cricket Namme 2025, which concluded successfully in Hudikeri, setting new records in participation and online engagement.
Organised under the aegis of the Kodava Cricket Academy, the event featured 281 men's teams and 64 women's teams, running for 42 days from April 6 to May 19.
Neravanda emerged champions in the men's category after defeating Achapanda, while Aramanamada lifted the women's trophy, beating Odiyanda in the final.
In a first for the historic tournament, the final match was live-streamed on YouTube, attracting over 12,000 viewers, a milestone in the digital journey of Kodava cricket.
Chekkera Chandraprakash served as President of this year's edition, with Chekkera Adarsh as the tournament convener. The Mukkatira family of Bethri will organise the 2026 edition of the Kodava cricket namme.
Bayavanda Sharath Kushalappa, advocate and cricket commentator, said this was one of the biggest and best editions of the Kodava cricket tournament since its inception in 1997, considering the overwhelming crowd response.
