Amal Clooney Is Dripping in Pearls at the 2025 Tony Awards

George and Amal Clooney took date night to the next level tonight at the 2025 Tony Awards. The couple hit the red carpet at Radio City Music Hall for Broadway's biggest night. George, who is nominated for best performance by a leading actor in a play for his role in Good Night, and Good Luck, opted for a sleek, classic tuxedo. Amal, meanwhile, leaned into the opulence. The human rights barrister wore a body-skimming white dress with a corset-like bodice, which was adorned with thousands of pearls of all sizes. The strapless dress was complete with strings of pearls draped across her biceps. Amal accessorized her mermaid-esque dress with a small pearlescent clutch and a pair of white pumps. Amal Clooney and George Clooney at the 2025 Tony Amal was unable to attend the starry opening night of Good Night, and Good Luck, she did celebrate her husband backstage at a recent performance, alongside Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, and Huma Abedin. For the more lowkey occasion, the lawyer opted for an asymmetrical, one-shouldered black dress. But in her white, pearl-adorned dress at the 2025 Tony Awards tonight, Amal Clooney looks just at home on the red carpet as she does backstage.

Bill Clinton

Bill Clinton, a Democrat, served as the 42nd President of the United States from 1993 to 2001. Born on August 19, 1946, as William Jefferson Blythe III, his father, William Jefferson Blythe II, tragically died in a car accident before Clinton was born. His mother, Virginia Cassidy Blythe, left him in the care of his grandparents while she attended nursing school. Clinton later graduated from Georgetown University, earned a Rhodes Scholarship to Oxford University, and obtained a law degree from Yale University in 1973. In 1975, Bill Clinton married Hillary Rodham. His political career began in Arkansas, where he was elected attorney general in 1976 after an unsuccessful congressional run two years earlier. In 1978, he became governor of Arkansas but lost his bid for a second term. The Clintons welcomed their daughter, Chelsea, in 1980. Four years later, Clinton reclaimed the governorship and eventually launched his presidential campaign against Republican George H.W. Bush. In 1992, Clinton and his running mate, Albert Gore Jr., won the election, defeating Bush and independent candidate Ross Perot. Clinton secured a second term in 1996, overcoming Republican Bob Dole and, once again, Perot. Clinton's presidency was marked by achievements such as high homeownership rates, the creation of 22 million jobs, and low unemployment. However, his tenure was also marred by scandal. Monica Lewinsky, a former White House intern, had an affair with Clinton, leading to his impeachment by the House of Representatives on December 19, 1998, for perjury before a grand jury and obstruction of justice. After his presidency, Clinton remained active in politics, consistently supporting Democratic candidates, including his wife Hillary Clinton's 2008 bid for the presidency — where she lost in the primaries to Barack Obama — and again in her 2016 presidential campaign, which she lost to Republican challenger Donald Trump. Clinton has authored several books, including "My Life," "Back to Work," and "Citizen: My Life After the White House," reflecting on his experiences and contributions. He is also a grandfather to Charlotte, Aidan, and Jasper.

No, Chelsea Clinton Did Not Receive $84 Million From USAID

Following President Donald Trump's executive action to freeze funding disbursed by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), social media users took it upon themselves to identify potential wasteful spending the federal agency was doling out. Some users have claimed falsely that USAID gave Chelsea Clinton, the daughter of Bill and Hillary Clinton, $84 million. That figure actually represents the annual gross receipts—total revenue not including expenses—for the Bill, Hillary, and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, commonly referred to as the Clinton Foundation. 'How are the liberals going to explain how Chelsea Clinton became a multi millionaire of american tax dollars?' a right-wing podcaster, Alan Jacoby, tweeted. 'Chelsea Clinton raked in $84 million. That's your USAID.' Jeff Dye, a comedian who has made appearances on reality television shows, made similar accusations on X. 'Chelsea Clinton gets 84 million dollars of our tax money and she can barely account for any of it.' He added, 'We have documented and published proof.' Another X user suggested that legal action be taken against Democrats, tweeting, 'Chelsea Clinton got $84M from USAID. But there are still Americans living in tents in the snow in North Carolina.' She added, 'Democrats made sure of both. Prosecutions better be coming.' While the Clinton Foundation has received federal funding in the past, the amounts are far smaller than the social media posts claim. The federal government website which tracks federal spending data from October 2007 to September 2024, shows that the Clinton Foundation in April 2010 received a grant for $49,998 from the Corporation for National and Community Service, an independent U.S. government agency since renamed AmeriCorps. The Clinton Foundation also received in September 2019 a $300,000 subaward—an amount not pocketed or spent by the nonprofit but which the foundation was legally required to dole out to other organizations—from the Department of Health and Human Services for opioid substance abuse training. Some USAID dollars were granted to a nonprofit organization formed by the Clinton Foundation, but nowhere near the amount internet users claim Chelsea Clinton took from the federal agency. The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), a project launched by the Clinton Foundation that in 2010 became a separate, affiliated nonprofit group, spent just over $6 million in taxpayer funds from a $7.5 million USAID grant from March 2019 to February 2021 for 'foreign assistance overseas.' Specifically, the listed objective of the grant money was 'to increase access to cost effective, quality basic health services at community level and in health posts across eight provinces of Zambia.' The '$84 million' figure appears to come from the Clinton Foundation's gross receipt amount listed on the organization's most recent filed tax return. According to the Internal Revenue Service's Business Master File, which was last updated on February 10 and tracks publicly reported financial information of nonprofit groups, the Clinton Foundation recorded $83,624,489 in annual gross receipts, which does not account for any incurred expenses, and encompasses all of the foundation's donations and other income for the filing period. That form is not available online, but the Clinton Foundation's most recent publicly available Form 990 tax return is from 2022, which shows total revenue and expenses adding up to $81,934,441 for that year. Chelsea Clinton publicly responded to the claim on February 10, calling the allegations 'absurd' and stating she does not 'take a cent from the Foundation.' Chelsea Clinton Lashes Out at MAGA for Spreading USAID Conspiracies About Her

Chelsea Clinton took to X on Monday to fact-check a viral conspiracy that purported she and/or her family was gifted $84 million from the the United Stats Agency for International Development (USAID). 'Lies and conspiracies about my family and me are nothing new. Still, I am particularly troubled by the absurd claims that continue to pervade social media this week, fact checks be damned,' the disgruntled former First Daughter wrote. USAID—which is currently in a state of semi-dissolution thanks to the efforts of Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)—was tasked with providing humanitarian aid to over 100 countries across the globe. According to the Congressional Research Service, the agency had about $40 billion in funds in the 2023 fiscal year. The agency's funding went to programs ranging from HIV/AID treatments to clean water access. But recently a spate of right-wingers online have claimed that Clinton, the daughter of Democratic former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former President Bill Clinton, received $84 million in taxpayer money from USAID. Some versions of the theory said that the entire Clinton family was involved in the scheme. Either way, the claims were false, according to fact-checking website Snopes. The only Clinton family associated venture to receive any money from USAID is the Clinton Health Access Initiative, which took home $7.5 million from the agency in 2019 to fund a slate of health services in the African nation of Zambia, according to Notably, Trump was president when the funding was dispersed. Clinton does not receive any personal compensation as a board member of the nonprofit, tax records show. The flurry of accusations first spawned from social media users on Feb. 5. after it was amplified by Musk, and quickly spread to right-wing pundits and media outlets who parroted the viral claims. One tweet, posted on Feb. 6, read: 'oh boy the DOGE people are finding all the goodies lurking in the Swamp,' adding: 'Now you see why democrats don't want @elonmusk to pull that sheet off? Corruption everywhere!' Another, posted the day before, read: 'What shady govt spending should we investigate next?' Yet another demanded justice and read: 'We must demand accountability and justice for these crimes.' Chelsea this week lashed out at the chatter. Her post continued: 'Facts: I'm proud of the Clinton Foundation work that has helped tens of millions of people worldwide. Our impact speaks for itself. I don't take a cent from the Foundation. Never have. In fact, my family personally contributes meaningfully to our work each year.' Adding: 'Misinformation isn't just noise—it's a weapon. Efforts to undermine good work won't stop us, and we stand in solidarity with those who are committed to truth, public health, progress, and the endless potential of our future.'
