Local health district now offering free naloxone box
CORTLAND, Ohio (WKBN) – The Trumbull County Combined Health District is providing naloxone to anyone who may need it.
The opioid overdose reversal drug can be found in a purple container outside of the health district's entrance on W. Main Street in Cortland.
It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The container includes instructions on how to use naloxone and tips on how to recognize an overdose. It also has a warning to 'beware of counterfeit drugs that may contain fentanyl.'
Free naloxone kits are also available through Project DAWN locations across the state — locations are listed on the Ohio Department of Health's website. The website also includes information on how to obtain a kit by mail.
