Chemanol CEO steps down, Fares Al-Abbad appointed Acting CEO
Methanol Chemicals Co. (Chemanol) terminated the contract of CEO Sabri Abdullah Al-Ghamdi, effective May 15. Accordingly, his board membership status changed to non-executive, the company said in a statement to Tadawul. Fares Al-Abbad, current Vice President of Manufacturing, was assigned Acting CEO. A new CEO is expected to assume position in July. Any relevant updates will be announced in due course, the statement added. Al-Abbad has over 27 years of experience in the petrochemical industry and project development, 26 of which were spent at SABIC and its affiliate company, Petrokemya. Throughout his career, he advanced in the fields of operations and process engineering, starting as a production engineer and eventually reaching the position of senior manager. He was also part of the team involved in oil-to-petrochemical conversion projects. Additionally, he holds two patents in the same field.

Chemanol incurs 53% higher net losses in 2024
Riyadh – Methanol Chemicals Company (Chemanol) suffered net losses worth SAR 272.30 million in 2024. The negative results marked a 53.15% annual increase compared to SAR 177.80 million in 2023, according to the financial results. The loss per share amounted to SAR 4.04 in 2024, higher than SAR 2.64 a year earlier. Meanwhile, Chemanol recorded 2.40% higher revenue at SAR 710.52 million during the January-December 2024 period, compared with SAR 727.97 million in 2023.
