Trader killed in head-on crash with fuel tanker in Kluang
KLUANG: A 52-year-old trader was killed after his car collided head-on with a fuel tanker along Km39 of Jalan Batu Pahat–Mersing last night.
The 9.50pm crash occurred when the victim, identified as Cheng Tow Kheong, is believed to have lost control of his Perodua Myvi, veered into the opposite lane, and crashed into the fuel-laden tanker, which was travelling from Ayer Hitam towards Kluang.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh confirmed that Cheng sustained severe head and body injuries and died at the scene.
The 39-year-old tanker driver was unhurt.
Bahrin said that although the tanker was carrying diesel and petrol, the impact did not cause a fire.
He urged witnesses or motorists with dashcam footage to come forward to assist in the investigation.
The victim's body was taken to Kluang Hospital for a post-mortem.
