Royal Challengers Bengaluru to play another IPL final: What's different for RCB this time? These 5 things
Royal Challengers Bengaluru reaching the IPL final again has created huge excitement. It's been an 18-year wait for them. Now, fans are asking, 'What's different this time?' This season, many key changes and strong performances suggest that 2025 could finally be the year for RCB. RCB have always been led by seasoned international cricketers. In the previous 3 finals, Bengaluru were helmed by Anil Kumble, Daniel Vettori and Virat Kohli, respectively. This time, however, Rajat Patidar will lead them in the IPL 2025 final. Patidar is still awaiting his T20I debut for Team India. He has played only 1 ODI and 3 Test matches. Though new to captaincy, he has impressed with his calm nature and strong performance. His mix of team unity and individual focus is working. RCB made history this season by winning all away matches in the league stage. No other team managed to do it before in IPL. They even broke old losing streaks at Chepauk (vs CSK) and Eden Gardens (vs KKR). This shows their strong mindset and ability to handle tough conditions. This will give them confidence ahead of the final in neutral Ahmedabad. This season, RCB are not just about Virat Kohli. While Kohli has hit 8 fifties, others have stepped up too. Phil Salt gave fast starts, Patidar led well, Hazlewood shone with the ball and Suyash impressed as a spinner. With nine different Player of the Match winners, RCB now look like a complete team. Gone are the days when they depended on stars only. RCB reached the final with a powerful win in Qualifier 1 against Punjab Kings. They bowled PBKS out for just 101 and chased the target in only 10 overs, winning by 8 wickets. RCB have always been about confidence and aggression. But, that big win further enhanced their morale. Unlike IPL 2016's close Qualifier 1, this one was complete domination, that too against the table toppers. RCB showed remarkable composure in pressure games this season. They chased 228 against LSG, thanks to RCB debutant Jitesh Sharma. After Kohli's dismissal in the 12th over, Sharma – who hardly had had insignificant contributions with the bat before this – did not panic. His unbeaten 85 off 33 balls took RCB home. Bengaluru edged past CSK by 2 runs in a last-over thriller at Chepauk. It was their first win against Chennai at the venue since 2008. Their strong mindset was clear in tough 'do-or-die' league matches this year. Stay updated on all the action from the IPL 2025. India Women To Play Australia In Three ODIs In September Ahead Of World Cup
Last Updated: India Women will face Australia in a crucial three-match ODI series in Chennai, starting September 14, ahead of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025. In what can come as a crucial preparatory series for the Indian women, their nemesis Australia will tour for a three-match ODI series, scheduled around nine days before the expected start of the much-awaited ODI World Cup, starting on Sunday, September 14 in Chennai. The second ODI will be played on September 17 and the third on Saturday, September 20. Although the official schedule of the World Cup hasn't been announced yet, it is expected to start around September 29. Chepauk returns to hosting a women's ODI for the first time in 18 years, when India, New Zealand, England and Australia competed in a quadrangular series. BCCI announces fixtures for Australia Women's tour to tour will serve as crucial preparation ahead of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025. The three ODIs will be played at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai. #INDvAUS — BCCI Women (@BCCIWomen) May 29, 2025 Australia won the series while India finished a lowly fourth at home. India and Australia played three ODIs in December in Albion and Perth and were whitewashed there, in what came as a massive thrashing for the ODI World Cup hosts. The ongoing season has been good for India in ODIs. After beating Ireland at home four months back, they went on to win the tri-series in Sri Lanka, defeating the hosts in the final. Australia last played the women's Ashes, where they won the ODI series 3-0. Next up, Harmanpreet Kaur's side will tour England next month, playing five T20Is followed by three ODIs, also crucial to their preparation for the World Cup. India, the hosts and Australia, England, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka had earned direct entry into the World Cup, while Bangladesh and Pakistan got there after topping a qualifying event earlier this year. Pakistan's games at the ODI World Cup, however, might be played at a neutral venue by the BCCI-PCB agreement made earlier this year before the Champions Trophy. The Pakistan Cricket Board was the host of that tournament, but all India games, including the one against Pakistan, were played in Dubai. First Published:

Revisiting the best of Rohit Sharma in Tests
After 67 Tests for India, Rohit Sharma has called time on his career in the longest format . The 38-year-old, who was appointed as the Indian skipper in red-ball cricket back in 2022, brings down curtains on his career with 4301 runs to his name at an average of 40.57, which includes 12 tons and 18 half-centuries. From a mammoth century on his debut to a historic Test-winning knock at The Oval, we look at five of his best innings in the longest format: A grand debut in the all-whites. With West Indies having run through the Indian top-order in the first innings at the Eden Gardens, Rohit Sharma orchestrated a comeback for the hosts with a commanding century. Facing a total of 301 deliveries during his stay, Rohit amassed 177 runs, lacing 23 fours and a maximum to take the attack to the Windies. The innings remains the second-highest score by an Indian batter on Test debut - behind Shikhar Dhawan's 187 against Australia. It laid the platform for India winning the Test and the debutant was named Player of the Match for his heroics with the bat. Rohit Sharma Feature ROHIT SHARMA A breakout innings, and series, for Rohit Sharma the Test opener. A mainstay in ODIs and T20Is, Rohit made a strong case for opening in Tests with his exploits in the home Test series against the Proteas. Having scored two tons already in the first Test in Visakhapatnam, Rohit signed off the series with his highest score in the format. A brisk 212 off 256 deliveries that included a stunning 28 fours and six maximums shouldered India's mammoth win by an innings and 202 runs. The hosts sealed the series 3-0 and Rohit was named Player of the Match for the Ranchi Test as well as the Player of the Series. On a landmine Chepauk surface for the batters, Rohit amassed 161 runs off 237 deliveries to complement a century from Ravichandran Ashwin as the England batters struggled to get a grip in the middle. With the spinners governing the run of play, the Indian opener found the boundary ropes 18 times, while clearing them twice. The knock – Rohit's first triple-figure score in Tests since his double century – played a key role in India eventually sealing the series 3-1 and punching their ticket to the first-ever ICC World Test Championship Final in 2021. With a fiercely contested five-Test series level (1-1) after three Tests, much was at stake in the fourth Test at The Oval. While England had managed to gain a 99-run first innings lead, the Indian opener turned the tide, smashing 127 off 256 deliveries. IPL 2025: Another insipid CSK display deflates Chepauk, Fleming vows to find positives
Judging by the lofty standards it has set, Chepauk wore a sparse look even deep into the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) match between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday. One could chalk it down to CSK's indifferent form and uninspiring brand of cricket this season. The lack of enthusiasm seemingly spilt over onto the pitch, as CSK was bundled out for 154 after being asked to bat. But Chepauk's less-than-capacity crowd gained a dash of vigour in the second innings, driven out of a concoction of desperation and passion. It showed the heart to baulk, cheer, and whistle some life back into its team as it tried to gain a grip in the game. The CSK fans applauded for every dot ball, clamoured for every run saved on the field, and roared for every SRH wicket to fall as their team clung on. But crowd support can only take you so far. In the face of a defiant sixth-wicket stand between Kamindu Mendis and Nitish Kumar Reddy, CSK wilted, prompting a simultaneous deflation in the stands. READ | CSK coach Fleming admits auction blunder after playoff hopes fade CSK eventually folded to a five-wicket defeat and now has its playoff hopes hidden high in the attics of improbability, while its fans have their morale sunk deep into the basement. The magnitude of disappointment CSK has served its supporters this season weighs heavily on the team's coach, Stephen Fleming. Stephen Fleming has been the head coach of CSK for 15 seasons. | Photo Credit: TAMAL 'When we see the amount of yellow turn up game after game, there is a responsibility that we feel, and it is a heavy one; to not reward that with performances weighs very heavily on the group. We have had some good seasons, but this is not a good season. Still, the fan support has been unwavering,' said Fleming at the post-match press conference. 'When the players come to play for Chennai, one thing they look forward to is being in yellow in front of a yellow crowd. To not perform up to our expectations, but more importantly, the fans' expectations, leaves us very empty,' Fleming admitted. The Super Kings' coach also vowed that he and his team would do everything in their power to end the 2025 season on a positive note and chart a course for a better campaign next year. 'What they [fans] will get is an absolutely strong commitment that we will do everything in the next few matches to play well. We still want to win games, but we also will do everything we can to improve the squad, our philosophy, and there will be no stone in terms of reviewing what we have done and what we need to do, and that is a commitment that I will give back to them,' said Fleming. For CSK, IPL 2025 has turned from gloomy to sombre over the last two weeks. Fleming's words could be the balm of assurance the team's fragile fandom needs right now.

Too many holes to plug: MS Dhoni reacts to CSK's torrid IPL 2025 campaign
MS Dhoni cut a dejected figure once again as Chennai Super Kings slumped to their fourth home defeat of the IPL 2025 season. On a sluggish surface at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, they were comfortably outclassed by SunRisers Hyderabad, failing to rise to the occasion with the bat. A change in personnel brought no respite, as CSK failed to click as a batting unit and couldn't even post a par total on a dewy evening in Super Kings made three changes, continuing an uncharacteristically unsettled approach this season. Sam Curran replaced Jamie Overton, Dewald Brevis came in for Rachin Ravindra, and Deepak Hooda took the place of Vijay Shankar. Having now used 21 of the 25 players in their squad, CSK are still searching for a winning combination after nine matches. | CSK vs SRH - HIghlights |With seven defeats under their belt, CSK are now virtually out of the play-off race in IPL 2025. When asked about the reasons behind CSK's struggles this season, Dhoni offered a characteristically blunt assessment."In a tournament like this, if you have just one or two areas to plug, it's manageable. But if the majority of your players aren't performing, it becomes very difficult."You can make a few changes here and there, but if most players are doing well, you can afford to give them a few more games. If that doesn't work, you move on. But if four players are underperforming at the same time, you're forced to make changes-you can't just keep going with the same team," he Ayush Mhatre and debutant Dewald Brevis tried to inject some intent with their aggressive approach. Mhatre struck 30 off just 19 balls, while Brevis impressed with a 25-ball the rest of the batting line-up-Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni and Shivam Dube included-failed to get going, as CSK kept losing wickets at regular hosts were bundled out for just 154 in 19.5 overs. Notably, CSK have yet to breach the 160-run mark at home in IPL 2025, with their batting consistently faltering on the tricky Chepauk NOT PUTTING ENOUGH RUNS: MS DHONIDhoni was candid about the need for a better batting display, urging his players to assess the conditions more smartly and adapt accordingly."We kept losing wickets. In the first innings, the wicket was slightly better, and 155 is not a justifiable score. It wasn't turning much. Yes, after the eighth or tenth over it became a bit two-paced for the pacers, but nothing too dramatic. I feel we could have added a few more runs."We're just not putting enough runs on the board, and that's essential these days. The game has evolved. I'm not saying you always need 180 or 200, but you have to assess conditions and then look to put up a competitive total," he little more than pride to play for, CSK will now look to plan for the future in their remaining fixtures.
