Head-on crash in Bedford County claims life of 65-year-old man
BEDFORD CO, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police are investigating a head-on two-vehicle crash in Bedford County that killed a 65-year-old man from Moneta on March 24.
Around 7:10 p.m. on Monday, a 1995 Chevrolet 1500, driven by 65-year-old Chester Lee Bates of Moneta, was heading east on White House Road near Hollow Road when he crossed the centerline and hit a 2000 Lexus traveling head-on in the westbound lane.
Hampton man dies in single-vehicle crash in Botetourt County
Mr. Bates was not wearing his seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The driver of the Lexus was taken to the hospital to be treated for injuries received in the crash.
The Virginia State Police said the investigation is ongoing.
