Chester police investigating shooting near Joe Collins Stadium

The Chester Police Department responded to a report of gunfire from ShotSpotter on Wednesday around 3:30 p.m. Officers responded to the scene at the intersection of Forrest Avenue and Brendal Drive near Joe Collins Stadium. One person was found with a gunshot wound, according to Chester Police. Multiple people were playing basketball when several shots were fired in their direction, officials said. Kamani Dixon, 20, was shot in one of his lower extremities. READ: Car flips over in front yard of east Charlotte home Dixon was treated at MUSC Health and has since been released, police said. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating the scene. The investigation is active and ongoing, SLED officers said. Westfield woman dies in Vermont snowmobile crash

CHESTER, Vt. (WWLP) – A woman from Westfield died Saturday morning due to a snowmobile accident in Vermont. The Chester Police Department said that at approximately 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, officers received a report from Chester Ambulance regarding a woman involved in a snowmobile accident on Goodrich Road. One dead in single-car crash on I-91 in Holyoke When the police arrived at the area, first responders had begun performing life-saving measures. Chester Fire Department was called to provide off-road emergency equipment, as well as Springfield, Vt. Fire Department for medical assistance. Despite emergency services' attempts to provide the victim with the best care, she passed away due to her injuries. The victim has been identified as 42-year-old Jessica Gottsche of Westfield, Mass. Investigation revealed that Gottsche was riding the snowmobile recreationally and lost control, crashing into a tree. She was not wearing a helmet while operating. Chester Public Safety offers its condolences to the loved ones of the deceased during this time. The Chester Police Department is currently investigating details surrounding the crash.
