4 electrocuted, 3 hurt during festival preps in Ghazipur
Varanasi: Four persons were electrocuted while three others sustained serious
burn injuries
when a flag came into contact with a
high-tension wire
during the preparation for the
Kashidas Baba worship festival
at Narwar village in Mardah police station area of
Ghazipur
district on Wednesday.
The injured were admitted to the hospital.
Preparations were underway for the religious celebrations at Surendra Panthi's place when a large flag came into contact with a high-tension wire passing over the prayer pavilion. The incident led to serious burn injuries to seven people.
All of them were immediately taken to Mau Fatima Hospital, where Chhotelal Yadav (35), Ravindra Yadav alias Kallu (29), Gorakh Yadav (23), and Aman Yadav (19), all residents of Narwar, succumbed during treatment.
Three others, Abhirik Yadav (16), Santosh Yadav (32), and Jitendra Yadav (30) are undergoing treatment.
Upon being informed, Mardah police arrived at the scene. Ghazipur SP Iraj Raja said that four people died after coming into contact with a high-tension wire during a religious ceremony. Those injured are receiving treatment at hospital, he said.
