The Brief A weak cold front is expected to bring light showers and possible thunderstorms to Chicago late Saturday into early Sunday. Despite the chance for rain, much of the weekend will remain dry with hazy skies from wildfire smoke. Warmer, sunnier weather is expected midweek, with temperatures climbing into the mid-80s by Wednesday and Thursday. CHICAGO - After a pleasant Saturday, some late-night showers are expected to move through the Chicago area, though the weekend will not be a total washout. What we know A weakening line of showers tied to an advancing cold front is expected to pass over the region late Saturday into early Sunday morning. There's also a slight chance of thunder and gusty winds, though the system is losing strength as it approaches the city. Hazy skies caused by smoke from wildfires in Canada may obscure some sunshine early Sunday, but it is expected to be a partly sunny start to the day. More clouds are expected to roll in by the afternoon, bringing a 55 percent chance of late-day showers or thunderstorms. Sunday's high will reach around 78 degrees, with overnight lows near 58 degrees. Rain may linger into Monday morning, but the chance of precipitation drops to 40 percent. The forecast improves by midweek, with sunny skies and highs climbing into the mid-80s by Wednesday and Thursday. Rainy commute Wednesday in Chicago with temperature drop ahead
A rainy day is ahead on Wednesday in Chicago. Scattered showers are expected throughout the day. The bulk of the rain moves in in the morning, while tapering off in the afternoon. The morning commute will be slow with heavy rain bringing ponding in the roadways. A warm and humid start to the day will soon turn to highs dropping to the 50s by the afternoon. Showers are expected to taper off by Wednesday night. Highs will stay in the 70s through the weekend, The next chance for storms will be on Sunday.

Chicago weather: Cooler temps, but plenty of sunshine for Memorial Day weekend
The Brief Cool and Dry: Expect cooler-than-average temperatures in the mid-60s through Memorial Day, but skies will stay mostly sunny and dry. Rain Stays South: Showers and storms will impact areas south and west of Chicago, but the city should stay rain-free through the weekend. Warmer Next Week: A slight chance of rain returns Tuesday, with temperatures rebounding to the low 70s by late next week. CHICAGO - A cooler-than-average Memorial Day weekend is on tap for the Chicago area, but dry conditions and plenty of sunshine should make for a pleasant holiday stretch. Daytime highs will hover in the mid-60s through Sunday and Monday — a few degrees below the seasonal average of 70 to 71 degrees — but skies will stay partly to mostly sunny, and no rain is expected through the weekend. Full Forecast Tonight will be chilly, with lows dipping to around 44 degrees. Saturday's high is expected to reach 66 degrees. While scattered showers and thunderstorms will move through parts of the Upper Midwest and downstate Illinois, those systems are expected to stay well south and west of the Chicago area. Rain chances return Tuesday with about a 30% chance of showers. Temperatures will gradually warm back to near-normal levels by late next week, with highs returning to the low 70s by Thursday and Friday. Monday should start out sunny before clouds increase later in the day.

CHICAGO - Chicago will enjoy a mostly sunny and mild Sunday, but cooler, wetter weather is on the way. Full Forecast Fair skies and calmer winds are expected overnight Saturday into Sunday as temperatures dip to around 52 degrees. Sunday should bring a mostly sunny day with a high near 65, which is about five to seven degrees below the average high of around 70 to 72 degrees for this time of year. Winds will remain light, around 5 to 10 mph, contributing to a pleasant day overall. Looking ahead, the forecast calls for showers and thunderstorms moving in Monday night through Wednesday, with temperatures dropping sharply. Highs on Tuesday and Wednesday may struggle to get out of the 50s, well below the usual low 70s for this period. By the weekend, warmer weather is expected to return with highs climbing back into the 70s.
