Atletico Madrid register interest in second Liverpool player
Atletico Madrid are on the hunt for attacking additions this summer, with at least one current player set to leave during the upcoming transfer window. And at this stage, there is a good chance that they sign at least one Liverpool player as the replacement(s). Angel Correa is set to depart Atleti after reportedly agreeing terms for a move to Mexico, and he will be replaced if he does move on. Replacements have already been lined up, and it is believed that one player that club officials are looking at is Darwin Nunez. Advertisement The Uruguay international is believed to be very interesting in a move to the RiyadhAir Metropolitano, but as it turns out, he could be snubbed in favour of his Liverpool teammate. Atletico Madrid add Federico Chiesa to summer shortlist Image via Glyn Kirk/AFP As reported by Diario AS, Atleti have identified Federico Chiesa as a target for this summer's transfer window. He will be allowed to leave Liverpool having only joined in 2024, and director of football Carlos Bucero has him on his shortlist. Atleti view Chiesa as a market opportunity. Liverpool want to sell, but they would also be open to letting him leave on loan. In this regard, he would be significantly cheaper than Nunez, which would make him more desirable for Los Colchoneros, who are already planning to spend big on Cristian Romero and Alex Baena. Chiesa could finally make his move to La Liga Prior to his Liverpool move in 2024, Chiesa attracted strong interest from Barcelona. And while that move fell through due to financial problems, Atleti would have more chances to complete a deal this summer. It remains to be seen whether Atleti make a strong effort to sign Chiesa this summer. If so, they are expected to face competition from Napoli, who want to bring the Italy international back to the Serie A.

Chiesa overwhelmed by fan support despite limited role at Liverpool
Chiesa Thanks Liverpool Fans After Title Parade and Reflects on 'Madness' in the City Football is as much about people as it is points. On a rain-soaked Merseyside afternoon, a Premier League title parade became more than a celebration of silverware. It was a statement of unity, of belonging, and, for one man in particular, of gratitude. Photo: IMAGO Federico Chiesa, standing on the open-top bus as Liverpool's champions rolled through the streets, offered far more than a few quotes. He delivered a heartfelt thank you to the fans, to the club, and to the moment. And in a season where his name featured more on the team sheet's periphery than at its core, it meant everything. Chiesa Moved by Song and Support Chiesa's contribution this season was modest on paper — just one Premier League start under Arne Slot — but the affection he received during the title celebrations was anything but restrained. The Italian, once a marquee signing from Juventus, has endured a difficult debut campaign. Yet the supporters made it abundantly clear: the bond they feel is not based solely on appearances. Advertisement 'The song, I have to thank the fans because I didn't play that much this year but to receive this love back from the fans is just amazing,' he said. 'I have to thank them and the song has a good tune actually!' Photo IMAGO What stood out most wasn't his humility or his humour, though both were present, but his pride. 'I'm so proud of the team, when I first came here they just immediately made me feel part of the team and supported me during the tough times I had this year. I have to thank them all. I'm a teammate, I'm one of the boys, even if I didn't play I tried to give my best in training.' Difficult Start but Immense Character The context matters. Chiesa arrived from Juventus without full match sharpness and slotted into a team undergoing change and facing fierce competition for attacking roles. Opportunities were scarce. But his resolve, evident in training, and his attitude, clear in interviews, earned him something rare and precious: respect from the dressing room and admiration from the terraces. Photo by IMAGO 'Today is unbelievable, to celebrate such a trophy with the fans and stay on this bus with the lads it's just incredible,' he told LFCTV. 'We deserve it, my teammates were incredible this year, thanks to the coach, thanks to the staff it was an amazing achievement and they truly deserve to celebrate with the fans today.' Advertisement As the bus wound its way through a sea of red, his presence, lifted by chants from the Kop faithful, was a reminder that belonging in football is not always measured in minutes on the pitch. Uncertain Future but Lasting Impact Whether Chiesa remains a Liverpool player beyond the summer remains uncertain. Some believe his departure is inevitable, a consequence of limited game time and tactical reshuffles under Slot. Others, however, point to his professionalism, his spirit, and his untouched potential. 'Well actually I never won a championship, so I don't know [how it compares],' he added with a smile when asked to compare celebrations in Liverpool and Italy. 'For the European one it was really, really good but today the city is just crazy, just madness out there, it's unbelievable.' And that word, 'madness', might just be the best way to describe what football still does in this part of the world — and what Chiesa, even in a supporting role, contributed to.

Curtis Jones mocks Luis Diaz during Premier League title parade
Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones cheekily mocked teammate Luis Diaz as he quipped that his colleague "just doesn't wanna speak" as the pair appeared on TV coverage of the Premier League trophy parade. The pair have played key roles in delivering a second top flight title for the Merseyside club in the space of 35 years - equalling Manchester United's haul of 20 championships. Rapturous celebrations ensued as the Reds lifted the Premier League trophy in front of Anfield following the final game of the season. There was a carnival atmosphere as Arne Slot's class of 2025 were hailed for their achievements, with Trent Alexander-Arnold clapped off as he heads for Real Madrid. Meanwhile, Virgil van Dijk was serenaded by supporters after leading his team in a landmark year, while fringe player Federico Chiesa's cult hero status in L4 was demonstrated as his chant become the soundtrack of the occasion. DJ Calvin Harris provided the music during the 15km circuit of the city, while hundreds of thousands of adoring fans lined the roads. Dominik Szoboszlai was eager to "party" while on the open top bus, while Chiesa again was the unlikely man of the hour as his chant proved popular with spectators once more. While the bus made its way around the city, Jones joked that teammate Diaz was feigning not knowing enough English to conduct an interview with LFC TV too. During the coverage of the landmark parade, Jones laughed with his Colombian teammate as he declared: "Diaz's English is actually good, he just doesn't wanna speak!" Meanwhile, the aforementioned Chiesa thanked supporters for coming up with a chant in his honor, saying: "The song.. i have to thank the fans for that. i didn't play that much this season but to receive that support from the fans is just amazing. i have to thank them, and the song has a good tune! He added: "'m so proud of the team. when i first came here they immediately made me feel like part of the team, they supported me during the tough time I had this year. I have to thank them all. I'm a teammate! I'm one of the boys. even in training I tried to give my best..." Speaking ahead of the trophy parade, head coach Slot spoke excitedly about the prospect of seeing the city of Liverpool come out to celebrate like never before. He said: "How passionate these fans are for the club and how special it is to win something, let alone over here. "I think I could feel today that it was 35 years ago that they were part of it. It's only been five years ago that we won the league but unfortunately the fans couldn't be there. Now they were and I think everybody could see what it means for the fans to win it, and that is what makes it special and, in the end, for us as well. "Because you play football for yourself, for your family, but definitely also for the fans, and we are privileged that we can play it in front of these [fans] because these ones are special, which they're going to again show tomorrow. "Because if other teams or clubs show the trophy in their city then there are other people there, some great videos you can see – but I think this is again going to be next level. But I just said that if the whole team stays together we can improve, even with this team. "We need to improve with this team but if we are able to bring new players in then maybe you have to adapt to their qualities as well. But that will never be drastic because this is the playing style I prefer, this is the playing style the club prefers and our fans want to see as well. "So, we try to find players – if we think we need a new player – that can fit this playing style. But you always adjust towards maybe new things you can expect and you try to improve on this season."

Federico Chiesa provides brilliant and honest response to Liverpool fans' song for him
Federico Chiesa said that the support he has received from Liverpool's supporters is "amazing" as he spoke during Liverpool's open-top bus parade through the city. Chiesa has barely played for the Reds since joining from Juventus last summer, but is a firm favorite among supporters and has even got his own chant, which has been sung up and down the country by fans throughout the campaign. Sang to the tune of 'Sway' by Dean Martin, the chant goes: "We can hear them crying in Turin; Federico, he's here to win; one chat with Arne Slot and he said 'ciao; f--- off Juve, I'm a Kopite now!'' Chiesa was asked about the chant in an interview by club media on Monday and said: "The song... I have to thank the fans for that. I didn't play that much this season but to receive that support from the fans is just amazing. I have to thank them, and the song has a good tune! Liverpool fans show Federico Chiesa how they really feel at title parade amid exit links
Liverpool supporters serenaded Federico Chiesa as they lined the streets of the city to hail their heroes during the club's Premier League trophy parade - as the forward continues to be linked with an Anfield exit. The Italian was the Reds' only major signing last summer and performed a bit-part role in the squad during Arne Slot's first season on Merseyside. Despite only making six appearances in the league, supporters have taken the former Juventus winger to their hearts by bestowing him with his own customary chant. To the tune of Dean Martin's "Sway", Kopites have adapted the lyrics to the iconic 1950s swing number with the chant becoming a favorite on the terraces. During the title celebrations at the Kop end, Chiesa played up to his cult hero status by lifting the trophy aloft as the Anfield faithful crooned in his honor. READ MORE: Liverpool title parade LIVE: Pictures, how to watch, bus route, weather, map, updates, live stream READ MORE: Liverpool transfer news LIVE: Florian Wirtz details, Frimpong breaks silence, Milos Kerkez hint The Italian attacker may not have had the impact observers may have hoped following on from his move to England just over a year ago, his mixed form on the field does not seem to have adversely affected his status in the stands. As he celebrated alongside his girlfriend with the Premier League trophy in hand, his teammates encouraged him to soak up the adulation. With Reds mainstay leading the way, his colleagues swarmed around him as the Kop sung his popular chant in unison in one of the standout moments of the celebrations. His teammates even joined in the song, which has arguably become the soundtrack of this 20th title win for the club. Strains of the tune could be heard on multiple occasions during the game too - even if Chiesa never managed to make the squad for matchday. The lyrics to the song in question are as follows: "We can hear them crying in Turin, Federico, he's here to win, One chat with Arne Slot and he said ciao, F--- off Juve, I'm a Kopite now!" Unsurprisingly, fans were heard singing the song in Chiesa's honor as supporters made their feelings known towards the Italian forward during the Premier League title parade. As the bus made its way from its start location in Allerton, it took just minutes before the crowds started chanting his name once more. However, it remains to be seen whether the former Juventus star's stay on Merseyside will be brought to a close in the coming months. Having failed to establish himself at Anfield as a first-team regular, newly-crowned Serie A champions Napoli have been linked with the player. Meanwhile, Arne Slot discussed the club's transfer plans heading into the window which is set to open this summer. He said: "We just want good players and ideally you sign them as soon as you can. "But it's not always easy to sign good players, let alone to sign them early in the window. But this club doesn't start working from today onwards. There is so much hard work being done behind the scenes already this season to find out which targets we have and try to sign them. "I have all the confidence that if we've addressed the right player that we try to sign that player. But let's see when that's going to happen and if that's going to happen because I'm very happy with the squad we already have." The more you get him in and around the box, the more chance you have of him scoring a goal. "He got a good chance just before Mo (Salah) had his big chance, Mo assisted for Federico. For him to have an open shot in 18-yard-box is a very good chance for Federico because he's such a good finisher. He added: "I think he did even more than I can expect from him, because if you haven't played throughout the whole season, hardly ever start and then play Brighton away, a very good team who can bring Kaoru Mitoma on minutes before the end, that tells you everything about this league.
