State's 1st Jain Sahitya Sammelana to be held in Kalasa on May 18

: The Land of Temples,
Kalasa
, is all set to host the first state
Jain Sahitya Sammelana
on Sunday.
Chikkamagaluru Zilla
Kannada Sahitya Parishat
and 1008 Bhagavan Chandranathswamy Basadi Jeernoddara Samiti are hosting the sammelana in the town.
As part of the lit fest, a procession by the conference president Shrivarma Heggade will take place.
Following that, the conference will be inaugurated at the Bhairava Rasa stage. Kalasa tahsildar US Kavya will hoist the national flag, and Kannada Sahitya Parishat (KSP) president Mahesh Joshi will unfurl the parishad flag. KSP Chikkamagaluru president Soori Srinivas will hoist the Naada Dhwaja.
Mahesh Joshi will inaugurate the sammelana, and Jain Sahitya Sammelana Welcome Committee president KC Dharanendraiah will deliver the keynote address.
As part of the event, a variety of activities, including a session on the history of Kalasa, have been organised. Retired tahsildar Keerti Jain will speak on 'Kalasa Saantararu', and historian HR Panduranga will speak on 'Kalasa Bhyravarasaru'. Writer Sukanya Kalasa will preside over the poetry session.
In addition, three individuals, Padmini Nagaraj, Devendrappa Akki, and Appanna Hanje, who contributed to
Jain literature
and research, will be awarded the 'Sahitya Siri Award' at the conference. Dr Padmini Nagaraj is a writer and professor in Bengaluru. Appanna Hanje from Hulakoti is a Jain history researcher and history professor. Devendrappa Akki, based in Indi, is a retired teacher and history researcher. Padmini Nagaraju will also deliver the valedictory address of the event.
