Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdelatty held a phone call on Wednesday with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.
During the phone call, the two ministers discussed bilateral relations and the latest developments in the Middle East.
Moroever, they expressed pride in the growing strength of Egypt-China relations in recent years across various fields and affirmed their shared commitment to further enhancing ties for the mutual benefit of their peoples.
On regional issues, Abdelatty addressed the escalating military tensions between Israel and Iran, highlighting Egypt's efforts to defuse the situation and prevent the expansion of conflict in the Middle East.
Moreover, he warned of the severe implications such escalation could have on regional stability and security.
Abdelatty also emphasized that there is no alternative to political and diplomatic solutions, underlining the urgent need to reduce tensions and avoid plunging the region into chaos.
In this regard, he stressed the importance of working toward an immediate ceasefire and returning to negotiations as the only path to a sustainable agreement on Iran's nuclear program.
For his part, Chinese FM echoed Egypt's position, praising the joint statement issued on June 16 by 24 Arab and Islamic countries, an initiative led by Egypt, which called for an immediate ceasefire and a swift return to dialogue as the only viable route to a long-term resolution of the Iranian nuclear issue.
