Bay County mourns death of the honorable community leader Don Crisp

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – One Bay County true business and community leader has passed away. Don Crisp died on Saturday at the age of 82. Crisp battled poor health for several years. He was born in Marianna, Florida, and graduated from Marianna High School, Chipola Junior College, and Florida State University. He was married to his wife Tyrene for 25 years, founded Bay County Land and Abstract Title Company, and was significantly involved in thousands of land transactions throughout the Panhandle. Crisp's community service was extensive and he was very active in the Panama City Jaycees. How hope turned to horror for the Hudlows: The truth behind the deception As a member of the Bay County Chamber of Commerce, Crisp received the 1995 Lauren Merriam Award, the chamber's highest honor. He also served on the Share the Future steering committee that raised over a million dollars for economic development. It remains the only economic development incentive fund in Bay County. Crisp was a member of the Bay County Airport Authority Board and helped make the decision to build the Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport. Crisp served on many local boards, including the Port Panama City authority board, Gulf Coast State College Board of Trustees, and many others. He was also very active on the local and state political scene. The family has not yet released funeral arrangements. News 13 will provide that information as soon as it's available.
