Green facelift: Noida set to revive its vertical gardens
Noida: Noida Authority has initiated tender proceedings to restore and maintain its deteriorating vertical gardens, including those on metro pillars in sectors 15, 16, 18, and Kalindi Kunj.

The gardens currently suffer from missing planters, dried vegetation, and overgrown plants. The selected contractor will maintain these gardens for two years.
Last month, TOI reported that the vertical gardens across the city were not well-maintained and had lost their greenery, leading to untrimmed growth, wilted plants, etc.
The new contractor will be expected to provide all tools and equipment necessary for horticulture work.
They must have a water tanker, sprayer, tractor with trolley, shovel, plastic pipe, basket, khurpi, and watering can.
"The contractor shall handle the maintenance of all accessories and plants, including changing pots, replacing casualties, removing dry leaves, pruning, watering, and fertilising plants as needed. They will also maintain the vertical garden for two years," said an official.
Launched in 2018 in Noida, the project involved installing vertical gardens on metro pillars, flyovers, and drains across the city using ornamental and air-purifying plant species like money plant, Asparagus Sprengeri, and Chlorophytum Comosum.
However, many of these vertical gardens are deteriorating due to a lack of regular maintenance.
A visit to the metro pillars located in Sectors 15, 16, and 18 revealed that many planters are either missing or broken. In some areas, plants dried up from insufficient watering, while in others, they grew wildly out of shape due to a lack of trimming.
