‘Choose to Reuse' program members receive free compost
WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Wichita Falls residents who participate in the Choose to Reuse Program will have a chance to reap the benefits of their recycling this upcoming weekend.
On Saturday, March 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., those residents can pick up a free load of compost at the Wichita Falls Landfill on Wiley Road.

The compost comes from the City of Wichita Falls, diverting reusable waste, such as organic collections, from the city's landfill. Organic collections are offered to both commercial and residential customers and can accept grass, leaves, branches, papers, cardboard, wood, chipboard, and food waste. This recycling saves money, is environmentally friendly, and creates nutrient-rich compost.
Each customer is limited to one pickup truck or 4×8 trailer load. To pick up the compost, residents must provide a City of Wichita Falls water bill showing the $3.00 recycling program charge.
The law requires loads to be covered to ensure no debris will be blown onto the roadways. Dump trucks, commercial vehicles, or oversized trailers may not be loaded.
Those interested in purchasing compost for commercial operation can contact the Wichita Falls Landfill at 940-631-8274.
