Fans are revisiting the news of Chris Brown's arrest after assaulting Rihanna in light of the new developments. As per the updates, the R&B musician's latest detention stems from an incident at a Hanover Square venue dating back to February 19, 2023.
The Metropolitan Police stated, 'A 36-year-old man was arrested at a hotel in Manchester shortly after 02:00hrs on Thursday, 15 May, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. He has been taken into custody where he remains' (via The UK Sun).
Later, the Metropolitan Police released a statement sharing details of the singer's arrest. The statement revealed that Brown will appear before the court at 10 a.m. local time on Friday, May 16.
Brown previously faced several other arrests, including the time when he allegedly hit Rihanna. In 2009, the Grammy-winning entertainer reportedly attacked Rihanna inside his car. In a documentary, Chris Brown: Welcome to My Life, the singer addresses the claims.
He admitted that during his relationship with Rihanna, he cheated on her with a former employee. After confessing the truth to RiRi, the relationship reportedly deteriorated (via BBC).
Brown noted that the pair fought several times. 'We were fighting each other. She would hit me, I would hit her. But it never was OK,' he said in the documentary. On the night of the assault, Brown revealed that the duo were fighting over the same incident.
The artist disclosed, 'I remember she was trying to kick me. It was just her just being upset. But then I really hit her. With a closed fist, like I punched her and it busted her lip. And when I saw it I was in shock. Why the hell did I hit her?'
Brown pleaded guilty after being arrested for the alleged attack. The singer received five years' probation and six months of community service as his sentencing.
