UFO conference among things to do in Newport this weekend
The UFO, Paranormal, and Spiritual Conference is set to return on Saturday, June 14, at the Grade II-listed West Usk Lighthouse in Newport, offering a day filled with networking, discussions, and talks. Other speakers include Alan Foster, who will share his experiences of spiritual sites, and Anita Davies, who will discuss past and future insights from the Akashic Records. A sky watch will conclude the day, with a firepit to keep attendees warm. Another event on Saturday is the 80s Day Disco, set to take place at Fire & Ice from 3pm to 8pm. Expect to hear music from artists like Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince. The organisers have said it will be a day to remember, "80s style." The Chicago Blues Brothers are also set to take the stage at the Riverfront Theatre on Saturday at 7.30pm. The organisers said: "We're not just putting on a show; we're throwing a party, and you're invited." Finally, on Sunday, June 15, Le Pub, on High Street, will host a Lord of the Rings-themed quiz night. There is a maximum of six people per team, and entry is £1 per person. Whether you're a fan of UFOs, 80s music, the Blues Brothers, or Lord of the Rings, there's plenty to keep you entertained in Newport this weekend.

Mysteries and UFOs conference to take place in Newport
The event, taking place at Newport's West Usk Lighthouse, will feature six speakers discussing topics such as UFOs, Stonehenge, and ley lines. Beginning at 9am, Chris Robbins will delve into UFOs, followed by LaRae Wilkins, who will explore the reasons behind aliens on Earth. At 11.30am, Alan Foster will examine ley lines and their potential use by extra-terrestrial beings. Maria Wheatley will then discuss Stonehenge at 12.30pm. Hoover City Schools seniors recognized for character
HOOVER, Ala. (WIAT) — Hoover City Schools recognized some graduating seniors for good character Monday. The school system honored 68 students from Hoover and Spain Park high schools at the Finley Award Senior Nominees' Breakfast. Faculty and staff nominated these students who they said have exemplified integrity, kindness and perseverance over the past four years. WEATHER AWARE: Tuesday evening through early Wednesday morning for strong to severe storms 'In Hoover City Schools, we know that character will take them far in life,' said Chris Robbins, the chief learning officer of Hoover City Schools. 'We want them to move into the college and career world as students and people and adults of character. We want them to show hard work as they move into the next season of life.' The Finley Committee will review the nominees and select one senior from each high school as Finely Award recipients.
