May 11—Alcohol was a factor in a head-on collision Saturday afternoon on Interstate 90 near Albert Lea that resulted in the injuries of four people, according to authorities. Christine Jo Bennett, 55, and Stanley Harold Bennett, 63, both of Mountain Lake, were taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. John Daniel Bennett, 20, of Mountain Lake was taken by ambulance to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, and Nyaroup Jocklaw Jal, 36, of Albert Lea was injured but not treated at a hospital, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. The report stated Jal was driving a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox westbound on the interstate and Christine Bennett was driving a 2023 Toyota Tundra with her two passengers eastbound when the two vehicles collided head-on at 3:17 p.m. near mile marker 159. The report stated all occupants were wearing their seat belts, and alcohol was a factor for Jal. The Albert Lea Police Department, Freeborn County Sheriff's Office, Clarks Grove Fire Department, Albert Lea Fire Department, Mayo Ambulance and Mayo Air assisted at the scene.

Liverpool: Pedestrian hit by bus in city centre dies

A pedestrian who was hit by a bus in Liverpool city centre has 27-year-old man was struck outside the Empire Theatre on Lime Street in at about 23:00 GMT on Saturday. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries but has since died, Merseyside Police said. The driver of the bus stopped at the Christine Bennett said the force was continuing to investigate what happened and asked for anyone with information, including dashcam or mobile phone footage, to get in touch. "Our thoughts and condolences are with the man's family and our specialist officers are supporting them at this difficult time," she said. Arriva issues statement after man, 27, dies in city centre

Arriva has issued a statement following the death of a 27-year-old man who was hit by a bus in Liverpool city centre last week. Merseyside Police were called just after 11pm on Saturday, March 8 to reports a man had been hit by an Arriva bus close to the Empire theatre on Lime Street. The pedestrian, a 27-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and was described as being in a critical condition. Merseyside Police today confirmed the man has died. The driver of the bus stopped at the scene and enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of the incident. Following today's news, a spokesperson for Arriva North West said: 'While an investigation into this incident is being carried out, our thoughts are with the man's family and friends."
