‘I hope they don't do this again;' Crews continue to tear down barricades from NATO in Dayton
City crews are working on getting Downtown Dayton back to normal after the NATO parliamentary assembly. They said on social media Monday night that Monument Avenue is back open. 'Work is continuing and progressing to open additional roads downtown as fencing and barriers are being removed,' the department said. Our news crew was there Monday night when the fences were torn down at Riverscape MetroPark and Monument Avenue. Some people are glad things are back to normal. 'I hope they don't do this to us again because it was just too big of an inconvenience,' said Christine Pollard. Crews continue to work on removing the fencing around Downtown Dayton. ‘Too big of an inconvenience;' Community glad NATO Village fencing is coming down, roads reopening
Downtown Dayton residents say they're happy that the NATO Parliamentary Assembly has come to an end. [DOWNLOAD: Free WHIO-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] As reported on News Center 7 at 11:00, Dayton police said crews are working to tear down 14,000 feet of fencing and 6,000 feet of concrete barriers that served as temporary security for the NATO Village. Crews started taking down the fencing at Riverscape Metropark Monday afternoon, and have since reopened Monument Avenue. >>RELATED: Fences, barricades surrounding NATO Village coming down They still have several streets to reopen and fencing to tear down. 'I hope they don't do this to us again,' Christine Pollard said. Pollard lives in the Biltmore Towers on Main Street. The building was inside the secure NATO Village. 'I had to come out the front of the building and go across to the north main bridge and around that river just to get to the store,' Pollard said. She said she's glad the NATO Assembly is over.
