Boulder police arrest man in armed bias-motivated crime

DENVER (KDVR) — A man was arrested for allegedly threatening two people at gunpoint because of their ethnicity, Boulder police said. Just after 9 p.m. on Monday, Boulder officers were called to a gas station in the 2900 block of 30th Street in the Boulder Junction area. Boulder police said two Latino males told officers that they were pumping gas when a man they didn't know pointed a gun at them. The victims said the man made comments about their ethnicity. Suspected TdA member seen in Aurora viral apartment video arrested in NYC Police said Watch 3 Patrol officers identified 23-year-old Christopher Antonio Morris as a possible suspect. On Tuesday, officers, plainclothes detectives and Boulder's Special Enforcement Unit used surveillance to locate Morris at a grocery store on 30th Street. He was taken into custody without injury. During the time of Morris' arrest, police said he had a pistol with a laser attachment — similar to the one used in Monday's incident. Boulder police said Morris was booked into jail and is facing four counts of bias-motivated crimes and four counts of menacing. A judge set his bond at $20,000. 'Our community members should not live in fear as they go about their daily lives. We are fortunate this situation wasn't worse than what it was, and I'm proud of the good investigative work done by both Patrol and detectives to quickly identify and find the person responsible for threatening these victims.' Per Boulder police, this is not the first time Morris was arrested. The department said that on New Year's Day, Morris was arrested alongside a woman on misdemeanor charges of disorderly conduct/discharge of a firearm and prohibited use of a weapon for shooting guns in a large open field near Highway 119.
