K-9 Unit apprehends wanted man after chase in Henry County
HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – The Henry County Sheriff said a man wanted on multiple felony charges was apprehended by a K9 and handler after being caught during a casual encounter on April 9.
According to the sheriff, deputies made contact with a suspicious vehicle near Blackberry Road and Stones Dairy Road during a 'consensual encounter' around 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
The deputy identified the driver as 29-year-old Christopher Roger Riggs of Bassett and determined he was wanted on an active felony warrant for failing to appear in court on charges related to possession of a firearm by a violent felon.

Riggs then allegedly resisted arrest and fled from deputies on foot; however, K9 Zajo and his handler were on the scene.
The chase only lasted a short distance before Riggs was taken into custody.
Christopher Roger Riggs has been arrested and charged with the following:
Fail to Appear in Court for Felony Offense. (felony)
Assault on Law Enforcement (felony)
Falsely Identify Self to Law Enforcement (felony)
Resisting Arrest (misdemeanor)
Contempt of Court (misdemeanor)
Release of accused on secured or unsecured bond or promise to appear; conditions of release (misdemeanor)
He is currently being held at the Henry County Adult Detention Center with no bond.
