CFTC to Dwindle to Two Members After Goldsmith Romero Departure
The five-person Commodity Futures Trading Commission will soon be down to just two members, after Commissioner Christy Goldsmith Romero announced plans to leave the agency at the end of the month. Goldsmith Romero, a Democrat, had already said she would step down when Brian Quintenz, President Donald Trump's nominee for CFTC chair, is confirmed. However, the Senate Agriculture Committee has yet to announce a hearing date for Quintenz, who previously helped lead regulatory policy at a16z, the crypto arm of venture capital giant Andreessen Horowitz.
