Tamkeen, Bahrain Polytechnic launch three new tracks

As part of the strategic partnership between Bahrain Polytechnic and the Labour Fund (Tamkeen), an agreement was signed to expand the tracks within the apprenticeship program. The programme aims to enhance employment opportunities for national talent and support their career development, and offers advanced practical training across various professional and technical fields by equipping participants with professional skills aligned with labor market needs. The agreement was signed by Ms. Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund Tamkeen, and Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic. This collaboration underscores the shared commitment of both organizations to fostering a skilled and competitive workforce in Bahrain. Bahrain Polytechnic aspires to open new horizons for students and job seekers through the Apprenticeship Program, which is based on providing a stimulating work environment and an integrated academic program, along with a monthly salary for participants. This comes in line with Bahrain Polytechnic's future vision of making education accessible to all and providing opportunities to develop and enhance skills in accordance with the demands of the labor market. This partnership aligns with Tamkeen's strategic priorities for 2025, which focuses on enhancing the position and competitiveness of Bahrainis in the private sector, equipping Bahrainis with suitable skills for career development in the private sector, and prioritizing enterprise growth, digitization, and sustainability. The new apprenticeship programs include Diploma Apprenticeship in Automotive Body and Paint , Retail, Information and Communication Technology, , in addition to the five existing tracks that cover Automotive Technology, Electrical, Mechanical (Welding), Building Services (Air Conditioning) , and Plumbing. On this occasion, Her Excellency Ms. Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Chief Executive of the Labour Fund Tamkeen, stated: 'This program comes as part of our ongoing efforts to upskill and reskill local talent and bridge the gap between education and the evolving labor market requirements." She added, "This program provides an opportunity for enterprises to employ Bahrainis with specialized skillsets required in the labor market. It also offers individuals the necessary practical experience and outlines plans for their future career growth." In addition, the CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin added: 'At Bahrain Polytechnic, we are pleased to renew our contract with Tamkeen as a strategic partner in supporting our Apprenticeship Program. This collaboration is a testament to the success of the program and our shared vision of empowering Bahraini youth to become competitive, agile, and future-ready in a rapidly evolving world of work. This partnership with Tamkeen will enable us to further meet the renewing demands of the labour market and continue delivering on our strategic commitment to preparing graduates with the skills and experience needed to thrive in the modern labor market.' The Apprenticeship Programme launched by Tamkeen and Bahrain Polytechnic combines academic study with practical work experience. Students benefit from 50% monthly salary subsidized by Tamkeen, along with employment benefits during the duration of the program. In addition, tuition fees are fully supported, and graduates receive a locally and internationally recognized Diploma Certificate. Upon completion, participants can choose from multiple career paths, including continuing employment with the same company, joining another organization, pursuing a bachelor's degree, or starting their own business. Since its launch, the programme has attracted over 45 companies and enrolled 266 trainees through partnerships with leading private sector organizations. With this partnership, more than 430 Bahrainis will now have access to vocational qualifications. Bahrain Polytechnic and Tamkeen expand apprenticeship opportunities

Bahrain Polytechnic and the Labour Fund (Tamkeen) have signed a strategic agreement to expand apprenticeship programmes aimed at equipping Bahrainis with skills aligned with labour market needs. The partnership supports practical training across technical and vocational sectors, enabling national talents to gain workplace experience while continuing their academic studies. The initiative is designed to boost employment prospects, career progression, and access to quality training. Maha Abdulhameed Mofeez, Tamkeen Chief Executive Officer, and Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, Chief Executive of Bahrain Polytechnic, signed the agreement. Under the programme, apprentices receive a monthly salary co-funded by Tamkeen and full tuition support. Graduates are awarded a recognised diploma and may continue employment, pursue further studies, or launch entrepreneurial ventures. New apprenticeship diplomas have been introduced in automotive body repair, retail, and ICT, complementing existing tracks in automotive technology, electrical work, welding, HVAC services, and plumbing. The initiative is part of Tamkeen's 2025 priorities to enhance the competitiveness of Bahrainis in the private sector and support sustainable economic development. Since its launch in December 2023, the programme has enrolled 266 trainees in collaboration with over 45 private-sector companies. Bahrain Polytechnic Inaugurates "King Sejong Institute Manama" Korean Language Education on Campus

His Excellency HeonSang Koo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Bahrain, and Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin, CEO of Bahrain Polytechnic, inaugurated the 'King Sejong Institute Manama' at Bahrain Polytechnic. The institute, accredited by the government of the Republic of Korea, serves as an overseas center for Korean language and culture. This initiative follows the strategic memorandum of understanding signed between Bahrain Polytechnic and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in September 2024, aimed at fostering linguistic and cultural exchange between the two nations. On this occasion, Professor Ciarán Ó Catháin emphasized that establishing the King Sejong Institute at Bahrain Polytechnic is a significant achievement for the institution and its students, providing a platform for knowledge transfer and cultural exchange. He highlighted Bahrain Polytechnic's commitment to expanding students' intellectual horizons and offering opportunities to study diverse languages. Professor Ó Catháin also praised the strong strategic relations between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the Republic of Korea, acknowledging the esteemed academic reputation of Korean universities and institutions, which attract students, engineers, and programmers while driving high-quality technological industries. He noted that the launch of this institute paves the way for expanded cooperation in academic and creative fields, the implementation of joint programs with higher education institutions in Korea, and a deeper understanding of Korean language and culture. This, in turn, facilitates smooth cultural exchange, enhances students' global awareness, and equips them with essential linguistic and cultural skills, opening new opportunities for their future. In turn, His Excellency HeonSang Koo, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Kingdom of Bahrain appreciated the University's support and arrangements for the launch of the King Sejong Institute Manama at Bahrain Polytechnic, which will be another milestone in the journey of the two countries' friendship. Underscoring the Institute's vital role in fostering mutual exchange of culture and ideas, he held out hope that this momentum will not only deepen cultural and academic collaboration but also facilitate future cooperation of comprehensive areas between the two countries.
