Zion Baptist choir will team with Reading Pops on Sunday [Religion Digest]
• Zion Baptist Church, 224 Washington St., Reading, will worship on Sunday at 10:30 a.m. featuring music by the Zion Baptist Church Choir and Reading Pops Symphony Orchestra, featuring Dr. Christopher Rohrbach on French horn and trumpet and his wife, Cindy Rohrbach, former concert mistress of the Reading Pops Symphony Orchestra and master violinist. Music will be 'Total Praise' by Richard Smallwood and 'Ride on King Jesus,' a traditional spiritual.
• St. Michael's Church, 529 St. Michael's Road, Tilden Township, will hold a church picnic next Saturday from 4-8 p.m. Music by Rick Hartman & Friends starts at 5. Picnic-type food includes soups, hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken BBQ, hot chicken sandwiches, ice cream and ice cream floats, beverages, desserts.
• Schwarzwald United Church of Christ, 75 Church Lane Road, Exeter Township, will celebrate Father's Day on Sunday with coffee and donuts prior to the 10:30 a.m. worship service.
• Christ Lutheran Church, 222 Niantic Road, Douglass Township, Montgomery County, will bless quilts made and assembled by members and friends of the congregation during its 9 a.m. worship service on Sunday. Coffee and Conversation will be held at 8:30 and 10 a.m. on Sunday in the Welcome Center.
• The Rev. Mark Stryjak, pastor of Allegheny United Church of Christ, Route 568, Brecknock Township, will begin an eight-week sermon series, 'Putting Our Faith Into Action,' based on readings from the book of James, during the 9 a.m. worship service on Sunday.
• St. Andrew's United Church of Christ, 1320 Spruce St., Reading, will be holding a Strawberry Festival fundraising event today from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Homemade chicken corn noodle soup, homemade beef vegetable soup; Weaver Market's subs; hot dogs; homemade macaroni salad; shoo-fly pies, strawberry crumb pies; strawberries and ice cream/shortcake; beverages; and assorted baked goods will be available for purchase to eat in or take out.
• The Rev. George Zacharda will be the guest pastor during the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Salem Lutheran Church, 8410 Lancaster Ave., Bethel Township. There will be a time of fellowship after the service in the multi-purpose room.
• Glenn Fisher will play the flute during the 9:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday at Calvary United Church of Christ, 640 Centre Ave., Reading.
In order to have an event listed in the religion digest, it must be something that is not just a regular worship service.
