"Excited to bring @Superman to audiences in China on July 11," he wrote alongside a poster of the film in Chinese. In the comments of his post, Threads user @dcdomain wrote: "Hey james is the runtime for Superman locked? There's rumors that it's 2h2minutes." In response, Gunn said, "That is not correct. It's almost totally locked - meaning we're just finishing a couple VFX shots over the weekend - but that's not the running time." "Thank you James," @dcdomain wrote back. "Can't wait!" Last month, Gunn hinted at what fans can expect to see in the film. "The central conflict revolves a lot around Lex Luthor's attempts to defeat and destroy Superman," he told Entertainment Weekly in April. "I think Lex Luthor thinks of Superman in the way that an artist thinks of AI. Here's this guy who's this [incredible] genius scientist who's worked his whole life to become one of the richest, most powerful men in the world, and he does it all to be lauded. I mean, he wants to be the greatest, and suddenly this jerk comes in wearing a cape with a lantern jaw and a cocky grin, and he just takes all of the oxygen out of the room, out of the room of Earth, and it creates a burning hatred in the guy." The Studio is overflowing with A-list guest stars, most of whom play versions of themselves, but it's someone who isn't doing that who's out in front for Emmy gold. Bryan Cranston is in first place in Gold Derby's early Best Comedy Guest Actor odds. The six-time Emmy winner plays Continental CEO Griffin Mill and is one of The Studio's few guest stars to portray fictional characters. After appearing in the pilot, Griffin returns with a vengeance in the final two episodes of the first season, taking so many shrooms that he goes MIA and puts the studio's CinemaCon presentation in jeopardy. In third place is someone many had penciled in for the win after The Studio's pilot: Martin Scorsese. The icon plays himself in the episode, pitching a Jonestown film to Matt (Seth Rogen) only for it to be killed later. A three-time Emmy winner, Scorsese has (unsurprisingly) never been nominated for acting before, but could playing himself actually hurt him for the win? The same question applies to Ron Howard, who also plays himself on The Studio and is in fourth place. No one who has played themselves has won this category before. The most recent one to be nominated was Morgan Freeman in 2021 for The Kominsky Method. Rounding out the top six are two former nominees in the category, Christopher McDonald, who returns in the Season 4 finale of Hacks, and Martin Short for Saturday Night Live. But there's another SNL host who might be under-predicted: Dave Chappelle, who's in ninth place behind past nominee Will Poulter (The Bear) and Giancarlo Esposito (Poker Face). The controversial comedian, who won his third straight Best Comedy Album Grammy earlier this year, is a five-time Emmy winner, with two of those wins coming in this category for SNL, in 2017 and 2021. SNL has won the category a record seven times since it was allowed to compete there in 2009. The sketch series hasn't triumphed since Chappelle's second victory, and Chappelle was snubbed two years ago for his third SNL hosting stint. Was that just a blip or have voters moved on? If he cracks the lineup, don't be surprised if he prevails, especially if The Studio's high-profile guests vote-split and The Bear really is on the outs. Michael Jackson biopic facing yet another delay
The Michael Jackson biopic is facing another delay. Jaafar Jackson is set to star as the singer in the movie, but Lionsgate have now confirmed the film will not be released as originally scheduled in 2025. Directed by Antoine Fuqua and produced by Graham King, it is now expected to premiere after April 1, 2026, according to Variety. The update was shared by Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer during the company's Q4 2025 earnings call. He said in a statement: 'In regard to our Michael Jackson biopic, we're excited about the three-and-a-half hours of amazing footage from producer Graham King and director Antoine Fuqua, and we will be announcing a definitive release strategy and timing in the next few weeks. 'I would note that it is likely we will move 'Michael' out of the fiscal year which will impact fiscal '26 financial results but will bolster an already strong fiscal 2027 slate.' The biopic stars 27-year-old Jaafar Jackson, the nephew of the late singer, and marks his first major acting role. While 'Michael' had been a centrepiece of Lionsgate's 2023 CinemaCon presentation, no footage was shown at this year's event. The film's initial release was planned for 3 October 2025. But Variety last month reported the project may be split into two parts, contributing to the postponement. Filming for 'Michael' wrapped principal photography in May 2024, but the script, written by John Logan, is currently undergoing revisions ahead of planned reshoots. The production carries a reported budget of around $155 million. In addition to Jaafar, the cast features 54-year-old Colman Domingo and 53-year-old Nia Long as Michael Jackson's parents, Joe and Katherine Jackson. Miles Teller, 37, plays John Branca, the artist's longtime attorney and advisor. And Larenz Tate, 48, will appear as Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown Records, while 34-year-old Laura Harrier plays Suzanne de Passe, a pioneering female music executive. Kat Graham, 35, portrays Diana Ross. The ensemble cast also includes 28-year-old Jessica Sula as La Toya Jackson, Liv Symone as Gladys Knight, 54-year-old Kevin Shinick as Dick Clark, KeiLyn Durrel Jones as Bill Bray, and 36-year-old Kendrick Sampson as Quincy Jones. Michael and Quincy Jones famously collaborated on the albums Off the Wall (1979), Thriller (1982), and Bad (1987.)
