Mum to run Lincoln 10k a year after breast cancer treatment
A woman diagnosed with breast cancer 18 months ago will run the City of Lincoln 10K race to raise awareness of the Ingamells, 31, who completed her treatment in 2024, said: "This time last year I couldn't even walk up the stairs without getting out of breath."The mother of one, from Horncastle in Lincolnshire, said she was inspired to take part in the challenge after watching her friend, Ellie Beebe, run last year's race to raise funds for breast cancer charity CoppaFeel."I just felt so lucky to be supported by the best group of friends", Mrs Ingamells added. Mrs Ingamells said she "felt really isolated" after the diagnosis in 2023, but has now set up a support group for other young people with breast cancer."We have a group of young people coming to a support group in Horncastle," Miss Beebe said."People all within the same town under the age of 40 going through a similar experience."Mrs Ingamells added: "I feel so grateful to be alive and kicking." The annual City of Lincoln 10K race attracts thousands of runners every year and takes place on Sunday 6 April."I'm proud of her for all her training, she's smashing it," Miss Beebe said. "Catching this awful disease early can save your life."According to the NHS, breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women in the UK. Road closures announced for Lincoln 10K
Road closures have been announced for the City of Lincoln 10K race. The annual event will take place on 6 April and is expected to attract thousands of runners to the uphill area of the city. Organisers said some of the road closures would begin at 05:00 and end at 14:30 BST, though others would be in place for shorter durations. The race will start in Riseholme Road and finish in Priory Gate. The route will take runners past the Roman walls, Lincoln Cathedral, Bishop Grosseteste University and the Museum of Lincolnshire Life. Closures will affect streets including Longdales Road, Nettleham Road, Bailgate, Burton Road and Queen Elizabeth Road, among others. Details of all road closures, timings and parking restrictions can be found on the Run For All website.
